A Vulcan, a Klingon, and a Scotsman

A Vulcan, a Klingon, and a Scotsman is a three-part mission chain that begins when Scotty and T’Pring go missing. You sweep for their shuttle near Vulcan, ride along with Spock’s old friend General D’Chok to hunt for news, then find the crashed Hurak ship and bring the pair home. All three parts are recommended for level 32, and the chain needs warp 17 for Part 1 and warp 26 after that. It pays 2,000 Raw Common Transogen, 1,000 Raw Uncommon Transogen, 91,000 Officer XP and 4 SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards. The opening part has no combat, so the chain eases you in before the Hurak fights.

  • Relocate to reconnect with the away team, in Dalneah.

Beat ’em up, Scotty

  • Wager 1 Latinum on Scotty.

All three bets pay the same rewards: 30 Transogen Forge Foundation, 400 Replicator Rations, 4 SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards and 2 Mining Bulkhead. Warp to complete: 26.

Tips for completing A Vulcan, a Klingon, and a Scotsman

Part 1 is pure travel and scanning, so any ship that can reach warp 17 can clear it. The combat starts in Part 2. You need 10 hostiles of level 31 or higher across that part (5 to defeat, then 5 to interrogate), and the objective names no system, so clear them wherever level 31 hostiles are easiest for you to reach.

Part 3 puts two Hurak fights back to back in Dalneah, the ambush at about 305,000 strength and the Vanguard at about 356,000. The Vanguard is the toughest enemy in the chain. Keep 1 Latinum spare for the closing bet; which officer you back does not change the payout.

This chain is part of the level 32 group built around Transogen. The Best Offense is a Good Defector also returns to Dalneah and pays SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards, while Transience, House of Hurak, Hurak’s Folly and Crossed Bat’leths end with SNW D’Chok shards.

Are the A Vulcan, a Klingon, and a Scotsman rewards worth it?

For the SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards and the Transogen, yes. The chain has only three ship fights, none above about 356,000 strength, plus 10 level 31 hostiles, and it hands out 91,000 Officer XP along the way. The story also ends with T’Pring and Scotty safe at your Station. The Transogen faction guide covers the resource side, and the STFC mission guide lists other chains at this level.
