Up in Flames is a Klingon-side mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you carry out a pre-emptive attack in the Nausicaa system. It can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 17 to finish. You fight three ships in a row, a Romulan Centurion, a Romulan Legionary and the USS Archimedes, each at around 130,000 strength, and then report back to Khitomer. The rewards are 150 Klingon Credits, 3,100 Klingon reputation and 6 Common Plutonium.

Up in Flames objectives

There are five objectives and no choice split:

  • Go to Nausicaa. Location: Nausicaa.
  • Defeat the Romulan Centurion. Location: Nausicaa. Enemy strength is roughly 131,625.
  • Defeat the Romulan Legionary. Location: Nausicaa. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
  • Defeat the USS Archimedes. Location: Nausicaa. Enemy strength is roughly 133,020.
  • Return to Khitomer. Location: Khitomer.

After the trip to Nausicaa, the mission is three fights back to back in the same system: two Romulan ships and then a Federation one. With all three down, you return to Khitomer to finish.

Where and what warp

Up in Flames has no named pickup system and can be picked up at warp 1. Completing it takes warp 17, which covers Nausicaa and Khitomer.

The game lists a recommended level of 1. The three fights near 130,000 strength are the real test, and doing them in a row is harder than any one of them alone.

Up in Flames rewards

Reward Amount
Klingon Credits 150
Klingon Points 3,100
Common Plutonium 6
Romulan Points -2,579
Federation Points -967

Up in Flames does not unlock a follow-up mission.

The reward is mostly Klingon reputation and credits, so the mission is worth the most to players building Klingon standing. The Romulan and Federation losses are small.

The three fights

Order Target Enemy strength
1 Romulan Centurion ~131,625
2 Romulan Legionary ~129,975
3 USS Archimedes ~133,020

The three are within about 3,000 strength of each other. The Archimedes is the strongest and comes last, when your hull has already taken two fights of damage.

Where it sits in the story

The mission before this one is Common Enemy, which also needs warp 17 and ends at Khitomer. In Common Enemy you investigate a distress signal in Krah’Hor and choose where to defend, then fight either two Starfleet ships or two Romulan ships at about 104,000 and 130,000 strength. It pays the same 150 Klingon Credits and 3,100 Klingon Points, along with either 250 Klingon Recruit Tokens and 17 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal or 600 Ultra Recruit Tokens and 1,200 3★ Common Refined Ore, depending on your choice.

Common Enemy itself follows Backlash, where you track a spy through Azha, Kepler-018 and Draken, so the three missions run in sequence, each one ending at Khitomer.

Up in Flames adds a third fight at the same strength, so a ship that cleared Common Enemy comfortably is ready for it.

Tips

Repair between fights if you can. All three are consecutive objectives in Nausicaa, and the strongest target comes last.

Bring your main combat ship. Three fights near 130,000 strength in a row will stretch a weaker hull.
