Thin Lines of Grey is a level 64 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you join Captain Picard and the Enterprise-E, acting without official orders, to investigate a series of grisly murders. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 1,250 to complete, with stops in Endurance-429 and Karane. Along the way you defeat 13 hostiles of level 63 or higher. The reward is 8,000 Σ-Parsteel and 227,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium, and finishing it unlocks Eternus.
Thin Lines of Grey objectives
There are four objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Investigate the scene of the killings. Location: Endurance-429.
- Investigate the Orion Syndicate. Location: Endurance-429.
- Defeat 13 hostiles of level 63 or higher.
- Follow Morey’s lead. Location: Karane.
Picard is frank about the situation. Starfleet is spread thin trying to contain the chaos in the quadrant, and the Enterprise was told to stand by at Starbase-12. He and his crew could not stay idle while innocent people suffered, so they came to you. The critical matter from Generational Trauma turns out to be an intercepted report of bizarre murders in a nearby system.
Picard calls the crime scene a slaughter, an act of pure rage. Maia disagrees: the cuts are too precise, and she reads it as calculated chaos made to look messy. Riker recalls a group of Orion Marauders with a similar method, so you pay the Orion Syndicate a visit. The Orion you question denies any interest in the Streenga murders, mentions the money in Starfleet slaves, and cuts the channel, which is where the fighting starts.
Maia catches a transmission leaving his ship just before it is destroyed and tracks it to Karane. Nothing is there. Maia is certain her triangulation was right, and Picard concludes that you have been out-played.
Where and what warp
No pickup system is listed. The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 1,250 to complete, the range for Endurance-429 and Karane. The recommended level is 64, and the hostiles you fight must be level 63 or higher.

At warp 1,250 this is the longest trip of the three. Eternus drops back to warp 1,100 and more than doubles the Raw Σ-Tritanium.
Tips
The 13 hostiles are the main job. They must be level 63 or higher but have no fixed system, so hunt wherever such hostiles are easy for you to reach, then finish with the trip to Karane.
