The Dust Settles is a Klingon story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you deal with the aftermath of Starfleet’s counter-attack. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 75 to complete. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but the Starfleet Interceptor at roughly 7,227,080 power is the real bar. The reward is 5,460,000 Dilithium, 400 4★ Common Interceptor Parts and a large Klingon reputation gain. Finishing it unlocks Sidelined.
The Dust Settles objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Evacuate Klingon civilians. Location: Mehg Torr.
- Evacuate Klingon wounded. Location: Mehg Torr.
- Defeat the Starfleet Interceptor. Location: Mehg Torr. Enemy strength is roughly 7,227,080.
- Bring the survivors to Kronos. Location: Kronos.
The first three steps all happen in Mehg Torr. You evacuate civilians and then the wounded, and a Starfleet Interceptor moves in before you can leave. Once it is beaten, you carry the survivors to Kronos to close the mission.
Where and what warp
The Dust Settles is available from warp 1 but needs warp 75 to complete. Mehg Torr and Kronos are the only two systems involved.
The listed recommended level of 1 does not reflect the fight. At about 7.2 million power, the Starfleet Interceptor calls for one of your strongest ships.
The Dust Settles rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Dilithium | 5,460,000 |
| 4★ Common Interceptor Parts | 400 |
| Klingon Credits | 700 |
| Klingon Points | 645,000 |
| Romulan Points | -970,080 |
Completing the mission also unlocks the next one in the storyline, Sidelined.
The Romulan loss is larger than the Klingon gain, at close to a million points. Check your faction reputation before you commit if Romulan standing matters to you.
How it compares with the rest of the storyline
This mission follows This Fire Burns, and the storyline they belong to begins with Old Wounds. Several missions in it share the same warp range and a fight in the six to seven million range.
| Mission | Warp to complete | Strongest fight | Klingon Points | Romulan Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Old Wounds | 120 | Raider, about 6,542,068 | 448,000 | -645,120 |
| Ferocity | 120 | USS Markievicz, about 7,414,271 | 538,000 | -791,936 |
| This Fire Burns | 120 | USS Spearhead, about 7,414,271 | None listed | None listed |
| The Dust Settles | 75 | Starfleet Interceptor, about 7,227,080 | 645,000 | -970,080 |
The Dust Settles has the lowest warp requirement of these, at 75 instead of 120, and pays the biggest Klingon reputation reward. It also has only one fight, while Ferocity has three named ships plus 15 hostiles.
Tips
Bring your strongest combat ship. The evacuation steps are travel only, so the Interceptor is the single test, and at about 7.2 million power it is a serious one.
Plan the 400 4★ Common Interceptor Parts for an interceptor you are upgrading, and put the 5.46 million Dilithium toward building costs at this stage.
If you ran This Fire Burns, the ship that beat the USS Spearhead at about 7,414,271 is ready for this slightly weaker Interceptor. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
