Son of the Empire

Son of the Empire is a level 52 Immortal side mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. Maltor wants to convince his son Thekar, still serving the Romulan Empire, to join the Immortals. It is picked up in Lyklaset and needs warp 230 to start and finish, with the meeting in Veisa. When Thekar refuses, you decide whether to bring him back by force. Both paths pay a 5★ Common Battleship Parts drop and a Romulan Immortal Datapad.

Son of the Empire objectives

Two shared objectives open the mission:

  • Find Maltor’s son. Location: Veisa.
  • Convince Thekar to join the Immortals. Location: Veisa.

Then the question: should we bring Thekar back by force?

Bring Thekar back by force

  • Disable Thekar’s ship. Location: Veisa.
  • Return to Immortal space. Location: Lyklaset.

Maltor tells his son that he will not abandon him again and orders you to disable the ship.

Do not bring Thekar back by force

  • Defeat the Tal Shiar vessel. Location: Veisa.
  • Return to Immortal space. Location: Lyklaset.

Maltor makes one more appeal, and a Tal Shiar ship arrives, calls Maltor a traitor and orders Thekar to destroy you. You fight the Tal Shiar vessel instead.

Rewards are identical on both paths: 1 5★ Common Battleship Parts, 1 Romulan Immortal Datapad, 800 Romulan Credits, 1,200,000 Romulan Points and -2,246,400 Federation Points.

Where and what warp

The pickup system is Lyklaset, and warp 230 covers the trip to Veisa and back. Lyklaset is also where Winds of Change II ends, with the Romulan defectors you escort into Immortal space. The recommended level is 52. Each path has one fight, and neither has an enemy strength listed.

Son of the Empire rewards

Reward Amount (either path)
5★ Common Battleship Parts 1
Romulan Immortal Datapad 1
Romulan Credits 800
Romulan Points 1,200,000
Federation Points -2,246,400

The Federation Points loss is covered on the faction reputation page.

Immortal missions that pay 5★ Common Battleship Parts

Mission Recommended level Pickup Warp to complete
A Miner Issue 50 van Vlerken 185
Putting on a Show 50 Adrisilver 205
Son of the Empire 52 Lyklaset 230
Tal Shiar Burglary I 52 Horgi 230
A Wild Ghost Chase 54 Cortázar 255
Debts and Deaths 54 Mons Mortis 285

All six also pay a Romulan Immortal Datapad, so they cover two needs at once. Son of the Empire and Tal Shiar Burglary I are the only level 52 options; the level 54 pair pays the same parts with bigger faction rewards.

Tips

The choice is story only; the rewards do not change. Maltor appears again in Winds of Change V, where you can accompany him on a recruitment mission.

Use the datapad toward Immortal hand-ins such as Honest Work and Community Service, which each ask for five. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
