A Better Life is a level 52 Immortal side mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. A Klingon squad has arrived in Immortal space to hunt a traitor named Qaz, who wants to join the Immortals. It is picked up in Magnus and needs warp 230 to start and finish. After tracking the defector, you choose whether to stand against the Klingon hunters or lead them to him. Both paths pay 1,200 3 Hour Speed Ups and a Romulan Immortal Datapad.
A Better Life objectives
Four shared objectives come first:
- Intercept the Klingon fleet. Location: Adrisilver.
- Scan the wreckage. Location: Magnus.
- Follow the warp trail. Location: Horgi.
- Return to the Klingons. Location: Adrisilver.
You report that the Immortals have chosen to let Qaz join their community, and the Klingons refuse to accept it. Then you decide what to do.
Defeat the Hunter Captain
- Defeat the Hunter Captain. Location: Adrisilver.
- Return to the defector. Location: Horgi.
Lead the Klingons to the defector
- Lead the Klingons to the defector. Location: Horgi.
- Disable Patra’s ship. Location: Horgi.
Rewards are the same on both paths: 1,200 3 Hour Speed Ups, 1 Romulan Immortal Datapad, 800 Romulan Credits, 1,200,000 Romulan Points and -2,246,400 Federation Points. Neither fight has an enemy strength listed.
Where and what warp
The pickup system is Magnus. Warp 230 covers everything, including the back-and-forth between Adrisilver, Magnus and Horgi.
The recommended level is 52. Each path has one combat step, against the Hunter Captain or against Patra’s ship.

Of the level 50 to 54 Immortal side missions that pay a datapad, A Better Life pays the most 3 Hour Speed Ups, more than the level 54 Tal Shiar Burglary II and more than twice what A Brotherly Squabble pays at level 54 (500).
Tips
Plan the route before you start. The shared steps bounce between three systems, Adrisilver, Magnus and Horgi, and both endings send you back to Horgi at least once, so a ship with a good warp range saves time here even though the listed requirement is only 230.
The choice is a story decision only, since rewards match. Defending Qaz keeps with the Immortals’ decision; leading the Klingons to him goes against it.
