Romulan Republic Miner

The Romulan Republic Miner is a Mirror Universe hostile in Star Trek Fleet Command that spawns at levels 48–70 across six Mirror systems, from Mirror Dessica up to Mirror Romulus. It only appears as a Survey ship, and every kill pays out Federation, Romulan, and Klingon points plus 4★, 5★, or 6★ broken ship parts depending on level. There is no class matchup to plan around here; bring your strongest ship for the level and expect to fight hull breached from the first round.

How to beat the Romulan Republic Miner

This hostile only spawns as a Survey ship, so the usual Interceptor, Battleship, and Explorer counter triangle does not apply. There is no variant to swap against between levels and no class bonus to chase. Pick whichever combat ship in your fleet has the firepower for the level band you are hunting.

Do not treat it as a pushover, though. The Romulan Republic Miner opens every fight with Deadlock, which hull breaches your ship at combat start and keeps the breach up for the whole battle. That breach then feeds its second ability, Dismantlement / Photophobia: while your ship is hull breached, the miner raises its own weapon damage by 20% for the round, and the Photophobia effect adds 10% Isolytic Damage on top. You fight the entire battle breached against a ship that hits harder because of it, so plan for a fast kill rather than a long exchange, and expect hull repairs afterward.

For crew, follow the standard anti-hostile principle: a captain whose ability boosts damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add damage or survivability. At levels 48–70 you are well past the cadet crews, so pull current picks from the officer tier list. Crews shift with the meta, so check it before you commit officer shards.

Where to find the Romulan Republic Miner

All six spawn systems sit in Mirror space. The low band (levels 48–50) starts at warp 125 in Mirror Dessica, the mid band (58–60) holds at warp 230 in Mirror Romii and Mirror Cheron, and the top band (68–70) needs warp 800 to reach Mirror Terix and Mirror Romulus.

Level Warp Systems
48 125 Mirror Dessica
50 230 Mirror Altanea
58 230 Mirror Romii [Extract]
60 230 Mirror Cheron
68 800 Mirror Terix
70 800 Mirror Romulus

Rewards and what it drops

The headline reward is faction points for all three major factions at once. Each kill pays Federation, Romulan, and Klingon points, with payouts scaling from 20,000 up to 1,000,000 as you climb the level range. Each level band also drops broken ship parts of a matching star tier: 4★ parts at levels 48–50, 5★ at 58–60, and 6★ at 68–70, split across Explorer, Battleship, and Interceptor parts alike. Ship XP climbs steeply too, from 2,501 per kill at level 48 to 51,800 at level 70.

Drop What it is
Federation, Romulan, and Klingon points Faction reputation currency, 20,000–1,000,000 per kill depending on level, for all three factions in one fight

5★ broken ship parts (Explorer, Battleship, Interceptor) Scrapping and ship-material resource from the level 58–60 spawns
6★ broken ship parts (Explorer, Battleship, Interceptor) Scrapping and ship-material resource from the level 68–70 spawns

Romulan Republic Miner firing pattern

The miner fires two weapon groups, one Energy and one Kinetic, and both fire every round with no skipped rounds after the first. The Energy weapon is the heavier hitter of the pair. Because damage arrives steady rather than in bursts, there is no big round to time mitigation around, which is one more reason to end the fight quickly. The figures below come from the level 48 record; higher-level spawns hit much harder.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 1 497,898–541,194 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 1 331,932–360,796 Every round 10% (1.5x)

The Mirror Universe Romulans in Star Trek

The Mirror Universe first appeared in the 1967 Original Series episode “Mirror, Mirror,” which swapped the Federation for the ruthless Terran Empire. Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, and Discovery all returned to that reality, but the on-screen stories center on the Terrans and the rebels fighting them, and Romulans barely appear there. The Romulan Republic of STFC’s Mirror Universe arc is the game’s own extension of the idea, built on the prime-timeline Romulans: an offshoot of the Vulcan species who rejected logic, settled Romulus, and built a secretive empire known for cunning and misdirection.

Is the Romulan Republic Miner worth grinding?

Yes, if you need faction points. Few hostiles pay Federation, Romulan, and Klingon points in a single kill, and the payouts reach 1,000,000 at the top of the range. The broken ship parts are a useful side benefit if you are scrapping ships for 4★ to 6★ materials. Match your warp range to the band you can actually reach (125 gets you to Mirror Dessica, 800 for the top systems), and bring enough ship to end fights fast; every extra round is a round spent hull breached.
