Practice Makes Perfect

Practice Makes Perfect is the Star Trek Fleet Command mission where you build the Stella and use it to help Eurydice pull off a casino job. It is recommended for level 27, can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to finish, with the action in Tombstone and The Principium. A choice near the end decides whether you spend 10,000 Dilithium on a distraction or fight a guard. Both paths pay refined ore, gas and crystal plus 26 Uncommon Uranium, and completing either unlocks I Know A Guy…

Practice Makes Perfect objectives

The story line is “Help Eurydice stage some small-scale heists.” The first six objectives are shared:

  • Meet with Eurydice. Location: Tombstone.
  • Build the Stella.
  • Defeat 18 hostiles of level 26 or higher with the Stella.
  • Return to your Station for upgrades.
  • Scope out the target. Location: The Principium.
  • What’s our play?

At “What’s our play?” the mission splits in two. The mission data does not name the answers, so the paths are described by what they ask you to do.

Path 1: the distraction

  • Find a good spot for the distraction. Location: The Principium.
  • Discharge 10,000 Dilithium to trigger a chain reaction.
  • Rob the Casino with the Stella. Location: The Principium. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
  • Escape from the Eclipse agent. Location: Tombstone.

Rewards: 36 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore, 36 3★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 36 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal, 26 Uncommon Uranium.

Path 2: through the guard

  • Defeat the guard. Location: The Principium. Enemy strength is roughly 131,625.
  • Rob the Casino with the Stella. Location: The Principium. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
  • Escape from the Eclipse agent. Location: Tombstone.

Rewards: 29 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore, 29 3★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 29 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal, 26 Uncommon Uranium.

Where and what warp

You can accept Practice Makes Perfect at warp 1, but warp 24 is needed to complete it. Tombstone is where you meet Eurydice and where you escape to at the end; The Principium is the target. The recommended level is 27.

Building the Stella is part of the mission, and the ship is then used for the hostile grind and the casino job, so it becomes your main tool for most of the steps.

Practice Makes Perfect rewards

Reward Path 1 (distraction) Path 2 (guard)
3★ Uncommon Refined Ore 36 29
3★ Uncommon Refined Gas 36 29
3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal 36 29
Uncommon Uranium 26 26

Either path unlocks I Know A Guy…

Tips

Decide whether 10,000 Dilithium is worth seven extra of each refined material. Path 1 costs that Dilithium and skips the guard fight; Path 2 saves the Dilithium but adds one more fight at about 131,625 strength.

Budget time for the 18 hostiles. They must be level 26 or higher and must be defeated with the Stella, so no other ship can speed this step up.

Use the return to your station. The mission sends the Stella home “for upgrades” before the heist, which is a natural point to repair after the hostile grind.

The casino fight is the same on both paths, at roughly 129,975, and the Stella has to win it. Other missions at this level are on the mission guide.
