Practice Makes Imperfect

Practice Makes Imperfect is the first mission of a five-mission storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command about Jaylah. You pick it up in Farnham, meet Jaylah at Avofall, find her somewhere to practice, clear 15 hostiles of level 47 or higher and bring her back to Starfleet Academy. It needs warp 160 throughout, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The payout is 276,000,000 Parsteel, 280 1M Parsteel Tokens and 100 100K Dilithium Tokens.

Practice Makes Imperfect objectives

Five objectives, no choice split:

  • Meet with Jaylah. Location: Avofall.
  • Find somewhere to practice. Location: LSP-539.
  • Defeat 15 hostiles of Level 47 or higher.
  • Return to Starfleet Academy with Jaylah. Location: Avofall.
  • Return to your Station.

After meeting Jaylah in Avofall, you head to LSP-539 to find a practice spot. The practice itself is the 15-hostile hunt, which has no set location, so any hostile of level 47 or above counts. Then you take Jaylah back to Starfleet Academy in Avofall and return home.

Where and what warp

Practice Makes Imperfect is picked up in Farnham and needs warp 160 to start and to complete. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but the level 47 hostile requirement and the warp 160 range make this a late-game mission.

Practice Makes Imperfect rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 276,000,000
1M Parsteel Token 280
100K Dilithium Token 100

The tokens are named for 1M Parsteel and 100K Dilithium each, so at face value they add another 280 million Parsteel and 10 million Dilithium. Completing it also unlocks Trouble Follows, the next Jaylah mission.

The Jaylah storyline

Order Mission Warp to complete
1 Practice Makes Imperfect 160
2 Trouble Follows 160
3 An Open Secret 160
4 Bull in a China Shop 160
5 Validation 185

Trouble Follows has you defend Jaylah from further attacks: you find her in Farnham, defeat 10 hostiles of level 48 or higher and a Tal Shiar Assassin at about 10.8 million strength, then inform Starfleet in Avofall. It pays 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens. Practice Makes Imperfect is the easier start, with no named fight at all.

Tips

Pick the easiest level 47 hostiles you can find for the 15 kills. The objective counts any hostile at that level or above.

Farnham is also the pickup for Rampant, which pays 260,000,000 Parsteel on a similar scale, so it is worth taking both on the same visit. The mission guide lists every mission by level.
