I Know A Guy…

I Know A Guy… is a level 27 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you track down someone who can help with the bug. You meet Ro Mudd, look for Eurydice‘s friend and follow the trail to a band of Orion Slavers who are holding Mal. You then choose whether to pay for Mal’s release or fight for it. The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to complete. Paying gives Latinum and small extras; fighting pays 645,000 Parsteel with Tritanium and Dilithium.

I Know A Guy… objectives

The mission opens with four shared steps:

  • Meet with Ro Mudd. Location: D0D-G.
  • Find Eurydice’s friend. Location: Leone.
  • Track down the Orion Slavers. Location: Fastolf.
  • Decide how to retrieve Mal.

Path 1: pay for Mal’s release

  • Pay 12,000 Dilithium for Mal’s release.
  • Return to your Station.

Rewards on this path: 15 Latinum, 13 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore and 31 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups.

Path 2: attack the slaver

  • Defeat the Orion Slaver. Location: Fastolf (enemy strength about 129,975).
  • Return to your Station.

Rewards on this path: 645,000 Parsteel, 95,000 Tritanium and 19,000 Dilithium.

Where and what warp

I Know A Guy… has no pickup system and starts at warp 1. Warp 24 is needed to complete it, covering D0D-G, Leone and Fastolf. Both paths end with a return to your station.

The recommended level is 27, matching the missions on either side of it.

I Know A Guy… rewards

Reward Path 1 (pay) Path 2 (attack)
Latinum 15 none
3★ Uncommon Refined Ore 13 none
15 Minute Repair Speed Up 31 none
Parsteel none 645,000
Tritanium none 95,000
Dilithium none 19,000

Completing either path unlocks the next mission in the chain.

I Know A Guy… and neighbouring missions

This mission follows Practice Makes Perfect, where you help Eurydice stage some small-scale heists. It leads into Breakdown, where you refit the Stella. All three missions are level 27 and need warp 24.

Tips

Path 2 is the better deal on paper. You keep your 12,000 Dilithium and gain 19,000 more, plus 645,000 Parsteel and 95,000 Tritanium. The cost is one fight at about 129,975 strength.

Path 1 makes sense if your ship cannot win that fight, or if you want the Latinum and refined ore. Remember that it costs 12,000 Dilithium up front, so check your stock before choosing it.

Breakdown pays 150,000 Tritanium and 30,000 Dilithium along with refined materials, so keep going once Mal is back. For the rest of the missions around level 27, see the STFC mission guide.
