Midnight Oil is a level 76 station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that sits between the Outbreak and Remedy chains. It needs only warp 1, and its three objectives are to collect Gravimetric Data, transmit it and upgrade Operations to level 77. The data comes from completing 8 missions in the Margins or the Veil. The reward is 760,000 Σ-Tritanium and 8,656,000 Latinum, and finishing it unlocks Remedy Part 1. The Latinum is large, but Operations 77 is the part that takes time.
Midnight Oil objectives
There are three objectives in order and no choice split:
- Collect Gravimetric Data.
- Transmit the Gravimetric Data.
- Upgrade Operations to level 77.
The collection target is 8 Gravimetric Data, earned by completing 8 missions in the Margins or the Veil. The faction missions in the region pay 1 each. After you transmit the data, the mission waits on Operations 77.
Where and what warp
Warp to start and warp to complete are both 1, and there is no pickup system. The recommended level is 76. The missions you run for the data are further out: the level 76 faction missions need warp 4,000.

Midnight Oil is the middle one of three Gravimetric Data missions. Hang in There at level 74 asks for 5 data and Operations 75; The Fruits of our Labor at level 78 asks for 10 data and Operations 79.
Tips
Plan the Operations 77 requirements early. Ship Hangar 76 has its own station mission in the chain, and R&D Department 76 and Parsteel Vault 76 are the other two listed requirements. Engine Technology Lab 77, which comes up in the station chain soon after, also needs Operations 77.
