Klingon Elite Assassin

The Klingon Elite Assassin is the Klingon elite hostile, and it spawns in Klingon space from level 30 to level 50. Levels 30 to 39 each sit in one system, from Elequa (level 30, warp 26) to Burke (level 39, warp 52). Levels 40 to 50 spread over four to seven systems per level at warp 65 to 120, finishing in Annalu, Inoss, Muhg and Nalla. Only Federation or Romulan designed ships can fight it, and each kill pays Federation and Romulan reputation while costing Klingon standing.

Klingon Elite Assassin locations (levels 30–50)

For the first ten levels you get exactly one system per level. Warp stays between 26 and 38 up to level 37, then jumps to 48 for Qu’Vat at level 38 and 52 for Burke at level 39, so the top two spawns need noticeably more range than the rest.

Level Warp Systems
30 26 Elequa
31 26 Ulrich
32 31 Ok’Vak
33 26 Pekka
34 33 Beta Penthe
35 28 Lixar
36 37 Quv’lw
37 38 Korvat
38 48 Qu’Vat
39 52 Burke

At level 40 the Assassin moves deeper and starts sharing systems between levels. T’ong, Somraw, nuHmey veQ, Erzon’Uk and Annalu each hold it at seven different levels, which makes any of them a good base for a long farming session. Warp is 65 for levels 40 to 43, 75 for 44 to 46, 95 for 47, and 120 for levels 48 to 50.

Klingon, Federation and Romulan elite hostiles compared

The Klingon Elite Assassin has two sister ships, one in Federation space and one in Romulan space. All three share the same level range, stats and firing pattern, and each locks out ships of its own faction. Use this table to find the one your fleet can actually fight.

Hostile Ships that can fight it Rep it pays Level 30 Level 39 Level 50
Federation Elite Assassin Klingon or Romulan Romulan and Klingon Doloran (warp 26) Memory Alpha (warp 47) Caelum, Ertalwu, Gamma Sedra, New Reykjavik (warp 120)
Klingon Elite Assassin Federation or Romulan Federation and Romulan Elequa (warp 26) Burke (warp 52) Annalu, Inoss, Muhg, Nalla (warp 120)
Romulan Elite Assassin Federation or Klingon Klingon and Federation Parka (warp 26) Ferraria (warp 53) Elvros, Jorda, Kiina, Teranth (warp 120)

How to beat the Klingon Elite Assassin

Its Mo’Kai Elite Lethal Strike decides which ships you can use: only Federation or Romulan designed ships can engage in battle, and any other ship is lethally struck at the start of combat. Leave Klingon and Independent hulls at the dock and send a Federation or Romulan design.

After that, the counter triangle applies. Interceptors beat Battleships, Battleships beat Explorers, and Explorers beat Interceptors, while Survey ships should stay out of fights entirely. The Elite Assassin spawns as all three combat hulls, so bring an Interceptor against its Battleship version, a Battleship against its Explorer version, and an Explorer against its Interceptor version.

Elite Assassin Training works differently above and below level 40. On levels 30 to 39 it increases the Assassin’s Isolytic Damage by 100% at the start of combat. On levels 40 to 50 it raises both its Apex Barrier and its Isolytic Damage at the start of combat, so the higher spawns hit harder and soak more of your damage. Favor a fast kill over a drawn-out exchange at every level.

For crew, use a captain whose ability boosts weapon damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add damage or reduce incoming hits. Check the Officer Tier List for current picks at your level. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named combo as a starting point.

Rewards and what it drops

The reputation math is the main reason to hunt it. One kill awards between 205 and 18,800 Federation points and between 103 and 9,400 Romulan points depending on level, while deducting up to 35,250 Klingon points. Levels 30 to 39 also drop Parsteel and Tritanium; levels 40 to 50 replace those with 4★ Broken Explorer, Interceptor and Battleship Parts. Ship XP in the anchor rows runs from 520 at level 30 to 1,101 at level 50. The faction reputation guide explains what those points unlock.

Drop Amount per kill Levels What it is
Federation Points 205–18,800 30–50 Reputation with the Federation
Romulan Points 103–9,400 30–50 Reputation with the Romulan faction
Klingon Points Up to 35,250 lost 30–50 A reputation loss, because you are attacking a Klingon ship
4★ Broken Explorer Parts 108–1,165 40–50 Parts for 4★ Explorer builds and upgrades
4★ Broken Interceptor Parts 108–1,165 40–50 Parts for 4★ Interceptor builds and upgrades
4★ Broken Battleship Parts 108–1,165 40–50 Parts for 4★ Battleship builds and upgrades
Parsteel 337–752 30–39 Basic resource for buildings and ships
Tritanium 285–582 30–39 Basic resource for buildings and ship components

Klingon Elite Assassin stats

Stats vary by hull variant and climb steeply with level. The rows below are anchor points from the Explorer records. Total strength grows about 23-fold from level 30 to level 40 and another 27-fold from 40 to 50, so check your ship against the level before you warp in.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
30 1,501,473 483,525 483,525 72,948 945,000 520
40 35,145,086 9,235,590 9,235,590 2,112,436 23,797,060 520
50 950,817,129 284,172,000 284,172,000 20,118,429 646,526,700 1,101

Klingon Elite Assassin firing pattern

Two weapons, one Energy and one Kinetic, both shoot every round starting from round one. Damage per shot is identical across the pair, and each carries a 30% chance to crit for triple damage, so budget your hull for the unlucky rounds rather than the average ones. The figures come from the lowest-level record; damage climbs with level.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 1 5,130–6,156 Every round 30% (3x)
Kinetic 1 5,130–6,156 Every round 30% (3x)

The Klingons in Star Trek

The Klingons are a warrior species from Qo’noS, ruled by a High Council and organized into Great Houses that compete for honor and influence. Most houses seek glory in open battle, but the Assassin’s ability name points to House Mo’Kai, the house of spies and deceivers featured in Star Trek: Discovery. Mo’Kai wages war through infiltration and the quiet blade rather than the open duel, and L’Rell, who briefly led the Empire as Chancellor, came from its ranks. An assassin ship that kills any vessel outside its chosen prey fits that house’s habit of fighting on its own terms.

Is the Klingon Elite Assassin worth grinding?

Yes, if you are building Federation and Romulan reputation at the same time, since few hostiles pay both on one kill. Past level 40 it also becomes a steady source of 4★ Broken Parts for all three combat hulls. Skip it if you want to keep your Klingon reputation positive, because the loss per kill is steep. Check the hull, bring the counter class in a Federation or Romulan design, and make sure your warp reaches the system first. For more Klingon targets, see the Klingon hostiles hub.
