For the Greater Good

For the Greater Good is a Romulan-side story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you help the Suliban Nomads open a dialogue with the Suliban Cabal. It is picked up in Galorndon Core at warp 24, needs warp 32 to complete, and has one fight: Doasen, at roughly 153,150 strength. It pays 101,000 Dilithium, 250 Romulan Credits and Romulan Points, at a cost in Federation and Klingon standing. A short mission with a useful Dilithium payout.

For the Greater Good objectives

There are three objectives and no choice split:

  • Locate the Suliban Cabal in the Vendor system. Location: Vendor.
  • Remove Doasen from power. Location: Vendor. Enemy strength is roughly 153,150.
  • Return to Kelia with news of Doasen’s demise. Location: Galorndon Core.

The shape is simple. You fly from Galorndon Core to Vendor, find the Cabal, and deal with Doasen in the same system. Then you go back to Galorndon Core to report to Kelia. “Remove Doasen from power” is the only combat step, and it is also the one that decides whether you finish.

Where and what warp

The mission is picked up in Galorndon Core and needs warp 24 to start. Completing it takes warp 32. The last objective brings you back to Galorndon Core, so the whole mission is a round trip between two systems.

The game lists a recommended level of 1. The real planning numbers are the warp 24 pickup, the warp 32 finish and the roughly 153,150 strength of Doasen.

For the Greater Good rewards

Reward Amount
Dilithium 101,000
Romulan Credits 250
Romulan Points 12,000
Federation Points -8,640
Klingon Points -6,720

Completing it also unlocks the next mission in the storyline.

What the faction points mean for you

Three of the five reward lines are faction points. You gain 12,000 Romulan Points and lose 8,640 Federation Points and 6,720 Klingon Points. Added together the two losses come to 15,360, more than the Romulan gain, so the mission is a clear pick of sides: Romulan standing goes up while the other two go down.

If you are building Romulan reputation, this mission helps on both fronts, with Romulan Points and 250 Romulan Credits. If you are trying to keep Federation or Klingon standing high, the losses here are modest, but they add up if you run a long line of Romulan story missions back to back.

Tips

Bring a combat ship that can reach warp 32. Doasen is the only obstacle between you and the reward, and at around 153,150 strength a survey or mining hull is the wrong choice.

The route is short, so plan it as one trip. Vendor holds two of the three objectives, and the return leg to Galorndon Core closes the mission. There is no donation and no hostile-count objective to grind.

The Dilithium is the most broadly useful line. At 101,000 it is a solid payout for a three-step mission at this warp range, and it arrives with the Romulan Credits in one go.

The previous mission in this storyline is Dissent and the next is Focus Attack. Every other mission, sorted by level, is on the mission guide.
