Choosing Sides is a level 22 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you move closer to one of the three main factions. You upgrade Operations, pick Föderation, Romulan or Klingon space, scout housing there, and then relocate your station. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 19 to complete. Every path pays 150,000 Parsteel; what changes is which faction gains 100 points and 100 credits from you and which two lose standing.

Choosing Sides objectives

Two shared objectives come first:

  • Upgrade Operations to Level 22.
  • Choose a faction and scout housing near their space. This is the choice split.

The game then asks you to choose a faction to assist. There are three paths, and each one follows the same shape.

Choose Federation space

  • Choose Federation space. Location: Bazamex.
  • Return to your station and prepare for relocation.
  • Move Station to a system of Level 22 or higher.

Rewards: 150,000 Parsteel, 100 Federation Points, 100 Federation Credits, -100 Klingonisch Points, -100 Romulan Points.

Choose Romulan space

  • Choose Romulan space. Location: Tufem.
  • Return to your station and prepare for relocation.
  • Move Station to a system of Level 22 or higher.

Rewards: 150,000 Parsteel, 100 Romulan Points, 100 Romulan Credits, -100 Klingon Points, -100 Federation Points.

Choose Klingon space

  • Choose Klingon space. Location: Uikuv.
  • Return to your station and prepare for relocation.
  • Move Station to a system of Level 22 or higher.

Rewards: 150,000 Parsteel, 100 Klingon Points, 100 Klingon Credits, -100 Romulan Points, -100 Federation Points.

Wo und welcher Warp

The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 19 to complete. The system you visit depends on your choice: Bazamex for the Federation, Tufem for the Romulans or Uikuv for the Klingons.

The recommended level is 22, which lines up with the first objective. You need Operations at level 22 before the rest of the mission can move, and the final step asks for a station move to a system of level 22 or higher.

Choosing Sides rewards

Path Parsteel Gains Losses
Föderation 150,000 100 Federation Points, 100 Federation Credits -100 Klingon, -100 Romulan Points
Romulanisch 150,000 100 Romulan Points, 100 Romulan Credits -100 Klingon, -100 Federation Points
Klingonisch 150,000 100 Klingon Points, 100 Klingon Credits -100 Romulan, -100 Federation Points

Any path unlocks the next story mission, Scrap Heap.

Which faction to pick

The Parsteel is the same on every path, and the faction swing is only 100 points each way, so this choice does little to your standing on its own. Pick the faction whose space you actually want to live near, because the last step moves your station.

Think about where you mine and hunt before you move. Relocating near the faction you plan to work with keeps your usual targets and your station in the same part of the map.

Tips

Finish Operations 22 before you worry about the rest. It is the first objective, and nothing past it progresses until the building is done. The Operationen auf Stufe 22 aufwerten mission covers that same upgrade and pays its own reward.

Pick the destination system with care. The objective accepts any system of level 22 or higher, so choose one where you are comfortable living for a while rather than the first one that qualifies.

The next mission, Schrotthaufen, sends you to Enthra and asks for 5 hostiles of level 25 or higher. The mission before this one is Verlorene Horizonte.
