Distress Call is the opening mission of the main storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 1. It starts automatically, needs only warp 1 to start and to finish, and walks you through a combat simulation before sending you out to your first real fight against a Cardassian ship. The reward is 10 Latinum and 100 Parsteel, and completing it unlocks Computer-Kern, the next mission in the storyline.
Distress Call objectives
The story line is “Save the nearby colony from a bombardment attack by Nausicaan Raiders.” There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Complete the combat simulation.
- Lokalisieren Sie die Störung.
- Destroy the Cardassian ship. Enemy strength is roughly 143.
- Rückkehr zum Bahnhof.
The first step is a practice fight. Once the simulation is done, you fly out to find the disturbance near your station and then destroy the ship causing it. The story line talks about Nausicaan Raiders, but the target named in the objective is a Cardassian ship, so do not be thrown when the enemy on screen does not match the briefing.
At roughly 143 strength the Cardassian ship is a very small target, set for a level 1 account. The last step brings you home, which is where the next mission picks up.
Wo und welcher Warp
No system is named for any of the four steps. The destination for the disturbance is assigned when the mission runs, and it sits close enough to your station that warp 1 covers the whole mission. You do not need a warp upgrade to finish it.
The recommended level is 1, because this is the first thing a new commander does. There is no pickup system to travel to; the mission is waiting for you when the game begins.
Distress Call rewards
| Belohnung | Amount |
|---|---|
| Latinum | 10 |
| Parsteel | 100 |
Completing Distress Call also unlocks Computer Core.
The amounts are small, but they arrive at the point where a new account has almost nothing. The 100 Parsteel goes toward the first round of station upgrades, and 10 Latinum is a first taste of a currency that later Missionen pay out in much larger amounts.
Tips
Treat the combat simulation as a free lesson. It is a practice fight placed before the real one, so watch how your ship and the enemy trade shots before the Cardassian ship appears.
Do not wait around for a better ship. The Cardassian ship is set at roughly 143 strength and the mission is recommended for level 1, so you can move through it as soon as it appears.
Finish the return step straight away. The mission only completes once you are back at the Station, and Computer Core stays locked until it does, so there is no reason to leave your ship out in space.
If you are new and want to see where the storyline goes after the tutorial missions, the Missionsleitfaden lists every mission sorted by level, from these early station and combat lessons through to the long faction arcs that open up later.
