Distrustful Nature is a level 50 main storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you test the tachyonic pulse technology. You find a test site in the Delta Sector, ionize 30 million Dilithium to charge the ion pulse, and then decide how to deal with a Starfleet vessel in the Beta Sector: speak with them or attack them. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 205 to complete. Both choices pay 663,000,000 Parsteel and 2,500 Ship XP, and it unlocks The Horizons of Limitation.
Distrustful Nature objectives
The first three objectives are shared:
- Find a suitable test site. Location: Delta Sector.
- Ionize 30M Dilithium to charge the ion pulse.
- Decide how to deal with Starfleet.
If you speak with them
- Meet with the Starfleet vessel. Location: Beta Sector.
Rewards for this path: 663,000,000 Parsteel, 10 1M Dilithium Tokens and 2,500 Ship XP.
If you attack them
- Defeat the Starfleet vessel. Location: Beta Sector. Enemy strength is roughly 12,250,268.
Rewards for this path: 663,000,000 Parsteel, 250 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups and 2,500 Ship XP.
Speaking with Starfleet avoids a 12.25 million strength fight and pays Dilithium tokens. Attacking pays repair speed ups instead.
Wo und welcher Warp
You can accept Distrustful Nature at warp 1, but the Delta and Beta Sectors need warp 205. The recommended level is 50. The 30 million Dilithium you ionize is the other requirement to prepare for, since the mission cannot move on until it is done.
The game lists Assimilated Explorers, Interceptors and Schlachtschiffe in the Delta Sector at level 50 to 54, and Assimilated Ships in the Beta Sector at level 47 to 51. None of them are mission targets.

Completing either path unlocks Die Horizonte der Begrenzung, a station mission that asks you to upgrade Operations.

Distrustful Nature pays about four and a half times the Parsteel of the mission before it, where you follow VESTA deeper into Borg space.
Tips
The speak path is the easier and arguably better choice. Ten 1M Dilithium Tokens return a third of the 30 million Dilithium you spend on the ion pulse, and you skip the fight.
Take the attack path only if you want the 250 repair speed ups and your ship can handle 12.25 million strength. The full story order is on the main storyline missions .
