Intellectual Curiosity is a level 71 Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you take a House Sov officer out to scan a system he is not supposed to be visiting. It starts in Uyama and needs warp 1,550 for both the start and the finish. There is no choice split, and the only combat is a count of 10 hostiles at level 71 or higher. The rewards are 750,000 7★ Raw Gas, 500 Klingon Recruit Tokens, 900 Σ-Klingon Credits and 1 Gravimetric Daten.
Intellectual Curiosity objectives
Officer Ygrokh has heard that you are to be House Sov’s champion within the Empire, and he wants a small favour first: some research in Kithmór. The four objectives are:
- Proceed to Kithmór.
- Defeat 10 hostiles of level 71 or higher.
- Conduct the scans in Kithmór.
- Return to Uyama.
Ygrokh has heard stories of warped ships and the creatures aboard them, and in Kithmór he gets to open a channel to one. The Surgewalker only groans back, and several of its ships close in. After the fight, Maia asks why he came to an Independent instead of his own House. He starts to answer, then stops himself.
The scans find a spatial instability that his long-range telemetry had hinted at. Ygrokh thinks these small irregularities are spread across the Margins, tied to the central anomaly and a warning sign of the dimensional surges. Back in Uyama he admits the real bonus: he skipped Captain Gorthak’s strategy meeting, and he would like that kept quiet.

Intellectual Curiosity costs nothing to run, while The Words of Great M’Frull asks for two resource donations. The trade-off is that the M’Frull mission pays more than three times the Σ-Klingon Credits.
Tips
The kill objective names no system and asks only for hostiles of level 71 or higher. The story puts the Surgewalkers in Kithmór, though, and you have to be there for the scans anyway, so clearing them on the spot is the shortest route. No enemy strength is listed for the step.
Recruit tokens are the reason to pick this one. It is the only level 71 Klingon mission with 500 Klingon Recruit Tokens in the payout, and the 750,000 7★ Raw Gas is a solid bonus on top.
