Darkness Descends

Darkness Descends is a Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. A badly disguised Starfleet vessel has made a swift guerrilla attack on Jiwu’puH and fled, and you are sent after it. Picked up in Ganalda at warp 50, the mission has you find the imposter, disable it at roughly 1.69 million strength, and follow it on to Onyxis in the Afritalis system. The reward is 888,000 Dilithium plus Klingon Credits and Points. The whole mission needs warp 50.

Darkness Descends objectives

Three objectives, no choice split:

  • Find the imposter in Jiwu’puH. Location: Jiwu’puH.
  • Disable the unknown ship. Location: Jiwu’puH. Enemy strength is roughly 1,692,935.
  • Follow the fleeing imposter to Onyxis. Location: Afritalis.

You catch up with the imposter in Jiwu’puH, the site of the attack, and the objective is to disable the ship rather than destroy it. It still gets away, and the last step is to follow it to Onyxis in Afritalis. Reaching Onyxis completes the mission. There is no return-to-station step and no donation.

Where and what warp

Darkness Descends is picked up in Ganalda, and both starting and completing it need warp 50. The game lists a recommended level of 1. The unknown ship at about 1.69 million strength is the only fight and the real test of readiness.

Darkness Descends rewards

Dilithium 888,000
Klingon Credits 600
Klingon Points 100,000
Romulan Points -134,400

Other missions picked up in Ganalda

Ganalda offers three Klingon missions at the same warp. Current game data:

Mission Warp What you do Rewards
Darkness Descends 50 to start, 50 to complete Disable the imposter in Jiwu’puH (about 1.69M) 888,000 Dilithium, Klingon Credits and reputation
Glory in Death 50 to start, 50 to complete Confront the Romulans over the Jiwu’puH attack, destroy the Romulan Guards (about 2.42M) 17,500,000 Parsteel, 18 3 Hour Speed Ups, Klingon Credits and reputation
Border Lands 50 to start, 53 to complete Patrol the Neutral Zone and report to the General on Ty’Gokor 500 Klingon Recruit Tokens, Klingon Credits and reputation

Darkness Descends and Glory in Death tell two sides of the same event. Here you chase the disguised ship from the Jiwu’puH attack; in Glory in Death you confront the Romulans for their part in it. Glory in Death has the harder fight and pays Parsteel, while Darkness Descends pays Dilithium.

Tips

Bring a ship that can win at about 1.7 million strength. The disable step is the only combat, so one good fight is all this mission asks.

Pick up the other Ganalda missions at the same time. All three start in Ganalda at warp 50, and Glory in Death continues the Jiwu’puH story.

Watch the reputation lines. You gain 100,000 Klingon Points but lose 134,400 Romulan and 60,480 Federation Points, so this suits players already leaning Klingon. No Mercy is another Klingon mission at warp 50 with a similar reputation swing.

More missions by level are on the mission guide.
