USS Franklin-A Part 3 is the third step of the 11-part USS Franklin-A chain in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 40. It is a station mission: there is no system to fly to, and it needs only warp 1 to start and to finish. You upgrade Operations to level 41 and receive one Franklin Warp Relay Mk. II. Finishing it unlocks USS Franklin-A Part 4, so it is worth claiming the moment the upgrade lands.
USS Franklin-A Part 3 objectives
The in-game story line for this part reads: upgrade your Station to unlock updates for the Franklin-A. There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade Operations to Level 41.
No combat is involved, no donation is asked for, and no ship has to leave dock. The part is complete once your Operations building reaches level 41, which makes this more of a milestone tracker than a mission you actively play.
Where and what warp
Everything happens at your station. The source data lists warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, and there is no pickup system or travel step. The recommended level is 40, one level below the Operations target the objective asks for.
That makes the real gate your station, not your ships. The cost of Operations level 41 is what decides when this part clears, so check that building page for the requirements before you plan around the reward.
USS Franklin-A Part 3 rewards
The reward is one Franklin Warp Relay Mk. II. That is the only item this part pays, and completing it also unlocks USS Franklin-A Part 4.
Parts 1 through 8 each hand out a different Franklin warp component, and this relay is the third of them.

The parts on either side follow the same pattern: one Operations upgrade, warp 1 throughout, and a single named Franklin part as the reward. The Operations target rises by two levels each time.

Further along, the pattern holds up to Part 11, which asks for Operations level 50. From Part 9 onward the rewards switch from warp components to Franklin-A retrofit keys (Alpha, Delta and Omega). Tips
Work the chain alongside your station. Each part only asks for an Operations level, so the parts line up with upgrades you are likely making anyway, and you can claim each one as your station grows instead of waiting until you are close to level 50.
Do not expect Ship XP, resources or speed ups here. The single Franklin part is the whole payout, so the value of Part 3 depends on whether you plan to finish the rest of the chain.
