The Source is an early single mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that opens the Jaylah storyline. It is picked up in Elona, needs warp 11 to start and warp 13 to complete, and is listed at recommended level 1. You escort a Yridian trader looking for salvage, fight two Orion ships, and end by treating Jaylah’s injuries at your station. The rewards are 2 Jaylah shards, 12,000 Parsteel and four 1 Hour Speed Ups, and it unlocks Life After Krall.
The Source objectives
There are five objectives across two systems and no choice split:
- Collect the Yridian Trader on Andvaris. Location: Andvaris.
- Disable the Orion Kehra. Location: Andvaris. Enemy strength is roughly 11,529.
- Contact the Orion Syndicate on Orion Prime. Location: Orion.
- Defeat Underboss Vogga. Location: Orion. Enemy strength is roughly 11,176.
- Treat Jaylah’s injuries at your Station.
The mission has two halves. In Andvaris you pick up the Yridian trader and deal with the Orion Kehra. Then the trail leads to Orion Prime in the Orion system, where contacting the Orion Syndicate ends in a fight with Underboss Vogga. The two fights are close in strength, around 11,500 and 11,200, so the first one is a fair check on whether your ship is ready for the second.
The final step brings you back to your station to treat Jaylah’s injuries, so the mission ends docked.
Where and what warp
You accept The Source in Elona at warp 11. Completing it takes warp 13, so check that your ship can reach both Andvaris and Orion before you set out. The recommended level in the data is 1, but the two fights near 11,000 strength are the real test.

The next mission stays in familiar space. Life After Krall is also listed at level 1 and needs warp 13 to complete, and it sends you to meet Scotty in Lorillia before returning to Andvaris to investigate a Swarm takeover.

The Source is the Jaylah shard mission of the two. Life After Krall is the heavier grind, with 30 hostile kills, and pays refined ore and Battleship Parts instead of shards.
Further down the same storyline, Containment Protocol pays 5 more Jaylah shards, so The Source is the first step toward a larger Jaylah payout rather than the only one.
Tips
Bring one combat ship and do both fights in a single trip. Andvaris and Orion are the only systems involved, and neither fight is far above the other.
Spend the 1 Hour Speed Ups on early building upgrades or on ship repairs after the two fights.
