The Recesses of the Mind is a level 62 main storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with a single research objective. After the Actian Brood reappears, Maia warns that they will have adapted since your last encounter, so she and Howards look for a new weakness through research. The mission needs only warp 1 to start and finish. Complete Survival Cell Containment Research to earn 2 1 Day Assignment Speed Ups and 130,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium, and to unlock Hidden Gems.
The Recesses of the Mind objectives
There is one objective and no choice split:
- Complete Survival Cell Containment Research.
No system, hostile or donation is involved. The mission completes when the research finishes, and Howards reports that the work has turned up something you will want to see, which leads straight into the next mission.

Everything happens at your station, so warp 1 is enough to start and to complete. The recommended level is 62. What actually gates the mission is having the Survival Cell Containment research available and the resources and time to finish it; the research guide covers how research works in general.
