The Hunt is one of the first story missions in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 3. The goal is to appease a Klingon Captain by hunting down a Klingon traitor, then deciding what happens to K’Tok. It needs no warp beyond 1, and the only fight is against a traitor of about 230 strength. The reward depends on your choice: 50 1★ Explorer Parts on one path, 200 Parsteel on the other. Either path unlocks Recruitment Drive.

The Hunt objectives

The mission starts with three shared steps:

  • Search for the Klingon traitor.
  • Defeat the Klingon traitor. Enemy strength is roughly 230.
  • Decide the fate of K’Tok.

None of these steps has a system attached in the game data. The search leads into the fight with the traitor, and once the traitor is defeated you choose what to do with K’Tok.

Path 1: return without K’Tok

  • Return to Kurbon without K’Tok.

Rewards for Path 1: 50 1★ Explorer Parts. The data labels this as the Klingon path.

Path 2: bring the prisoner back

  • Return to Kurbon with the prisoner.

Rewards for Path 2: 200 Parsteel.

Both paths end with a return to Kurbon; the only difference in the objective is whether K’Tok comes with you.

Where and what warp

There is no pickup system, and both warp values are 1. The recommended level is 3, and the traitor at about 230 strength is the only combat check. The choice at the end is the only branching point, and neither side carries a large reward.

The Hunt rewards

Reward Path 1 (without K’Tok) Path 2 (with the prisoner)
1★ Explorer Parts 50 0
Parsteel 0 200

Completing either path unlocks Recruitment Drive. The mission before it in the sequence is Enhancements.

Which path to choose

The stakes are low either way. Path 1 gives 50 1★ Explorer Parts, which go toward an early explorer ship. Path 2 gives 200 Parsteel, which is a small amount of a resource you will collect in large quantities later. If you are working on an explorer, Path 1 is the more useful pick.

The Hunt and other early missions compared

The Hunt sits among other low-level story missions in the same opening sequence.

Mission Recommended level Fight Choice Rewards
Small Favor 2 None Yes 3 Next Gen Crusher or 3 Next Gen Data shards, plus 50 Officer XP
The Hunt 3 Klingon traitor, about 230 Yes 50 1★ Explorer Parts or 200 Parsteel
Gavolar’s Wager 3 Gavolar, about 272 No 20 Recruit Token, 15 Ship XP, 1 3 Minute Speed Up

All three need only warp 1. The Hunt and Gavolar’s Wager share a recommended level and have fights of similar strength, while Small Favor has no fight at all.

Tips

Use your combat ship for the traitor. At about 230 strength it is a low bar, but it is still the one fight in the mission.

Do not overthink the choice. Neither reward is large, and both paths unlock the same next mission. Every other mission sorted by level is on the mission guide.
