Specialist is a Federation storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you report to Admiral Johnson at Starbase 5 and then choose between two reward packages. It can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 47 to complete, with the meeting in Alpha Centauri. Both paths pay 600 Federation Credits and 100,000 Federation Points; one adds ten James T. Kirk shards, the other five 3★ Raw Crystal. For most players the Kirk shards are the better pick.

Specialist objectives

The story line is “Report to Admiral Johnson for a debrief on recent events.” The mission opens with one shared step and then a choice:

  • Meet with Admiral Johnson at Starbase 5. Location: Alpha Centauri.
  • Do you want Ship parts or additional Officers?

Whichever answer you give, the remaining task is the same: “Prepare for the upcoming maneuver.” Only the rewards change.

Path 1: the ship parts answer

  • Prepare for the upcoming maneuver.

Rewards: 5 3★ Raw Crystal, 600 Federation Credits, 100,000 Federation Points, 1 Damaged Datapad, and a loss of 147,600 Klingon Points and 32,800 Romulan Points.

Path 2: the officers answer

  • Prepare for the upcoming maneuver.

Rewards: 10 James T. Kirk shards, 600 Federation Credits, 100,000 Federation Points, 1 Damaged Datapad, and a loss of 147,600 Klingon Points and 32,800 Romulan Points.

Where and what warp

The only system in the mission is Alpha Centauri, home of Starbase 5. You can accept Specialist at warp 1, but warp 47 is needed to complete it, which is the range required for the trip to Alpha Centauri.

The mission data lists a recommended level of 1. There is no combat and no donation, so the warp requirement is the only real gate.

Specialist rewards

Reward Path 1 (ship parts) Path 2 (officers)
James T. Kirk shards None 10
3★ Raw Crystal 5 None
Federation Credits 600 600
Federation Points 100,000 100,000
Damaged Datapad 1 1
Klingon Points -147,600 -147,600
Romulan Points -32,800 -32,800

The question in the mission offers “Ship parts,” but the only item unique to that path in the current game data is 5 3★ Raw Crystal. The officer answer gives ten James T. Kirk shards instead. Everything else is identical, including the reputation changes.

Tips

Pick the officers answer unless you have a specific need for raw crystal. Ten Kirk shards go toward a named officer, while five 3★ Raw Crystal is a small amount of a resource you can mine.

Be ready for the reputation hit. Both paths cost 147,600 Klingon Points and 32,800 Romulan Points, so there is no way to avoid it by choosing differently. If you are building toward Klingon or Romulan standing, count that before you accept.

Send any ship with warp 47. With no fight in the mission, a spare ship is enough, and your combat ships can stay busy elsewhere.

Specialist follows The Enemy of My Enemy in the storyline. For other missions around this level, see the mission guide.
