Skimming Stones is a level 77 Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you protect a House Sov survey team studying phase shifting asteroids on the edge of the Veil. Everything happens in Kroliva, the pickup system, and the mission needs warp 4,500 to start and to complete. You spend 200K Σ-Tritanium on the sensors and fight one Independent Battleship of about 129 trillion strength. The reward is 4,400,000 7★ Raw Crystal, 400,000 7★ Broken Battleship Parts and 2,000 Σ-Klingon Credits. For three objectives, that is one of the best returns at level 77.
Skimming Stones objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Travel to the survey site. Location: Kroliva.
- Use 200K Σ-Tritanium to enhance the sensors.
- Protect the science team from an Independent Battleship. Location: Kroliva (enemy strength about 129.1 trillion).
You reach the survey site, pay to boost the sensors, and then hold off the Independent Battleship that comes after the science team. Once it is beaten, the mission is done.
Where and what warp
The pickup system is Kroliva, and the mission never leaves it. Warp to start and warp to complete are both 4,500, and the recommended level is 77.
A single system and three steps make this one of the shortest missions at this level.

All three give the same Klingon, Romulan and Federation point changes. Skimming Stones pays the most raw material; Ground Water pays back more Σ-Tritanium than it costs and the most Σ-Klingon Credits.
Tips
Keep 200K Σ-Tritanium ready. The sensor upgrade comes before the fight, so the mission cannot reach the battle without it.
The Independent Battleship is the strongest of the three level 77 Klingon enemies, but only by a few trillion. A ship that clears one will clear the others.
The Broken Battleship Parts are useful only if you are building up a Battleship.
