Romulan Patrol

The Romulan Patrol is a Romulan faction hostile that roams Romulan and border space from level 20 to 53. It shows up as a Battleship, an Explorer, or an Interceptor, so the ship you bring depends on which variant you tag. Kills drop Tritanium, Dilithium, 4★ broken ship parts, and Federation and Klingon reputation. Bring the hull that counters the variant in front of you and it goes down quickly.

How to beat the Romulan Patrol

The Romulan Patrol spawns as all three combat hulls, so match your ship to what you are attacking. Star Trek Fleet Command runs a rock-paper-scissors triangle: Interceptors beat Battleships, Battleships beat Explorers, and Explorers beat Interceptors. Survey ships barely fight, so leave them docked. Against a Battleship Patrol bring an Interceptor, against an Explorer Patrol bring a Battleship, and against an Interceptor Patrol bring an Explorer. Check the target’s hull icon before you commit.

For crew, put a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles in the chair and fill the other seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. Early on, a cadet crew handles these fights well within its level range: Cadet Kirk as captain with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura. As your roster grows, move to stronger picks. Crews shift with the meta, so check the current officer tier list before you build one.

Where to find the Romulan Patrol

The Romulan Patrol clusters in Romulan and neutral border systems. The low-level versions sit in early systems at warp 17, and the warp requirement climbs as the level rises, with the level 53 target parked out at warp 185. Match your warp range to the level you want to farm.

Rewards and what it drops

The Romulan Patrol pays out raw materials and faction reputation. Attacking it earns Federation and Klingon reputation while lowering your standing with the Romulans, the usual trade for hunting a faction’s ships. Ship XP climbs steeply with level, so higher-level targets are better when you want to level a ship.

Drop What it is
Tritanium Common refined material used across ship and building costs
Dilithium Premium currency for research, recalls, and speedups
4★ Broken Explorer Parts Tier 4 parts for building and upgrading Explorer ships
4★ Broken Battleship Parts Tier 4 parts for building and upgrading Battleship ships
4★ Broken Interceptor Parts Tier 4 parts for building and upgrading Interceptor ships
Federation Points Federation faction reputation
Klingon Points Klingon faction reputation
Romulan Points Romulan faction reputation; attacking Romulan hostiles lowers this

Romulan Patrol stats

Stats vary by hull variant and climb steeply with level, so treat these as anchor points rather than a full ladder.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
20 (Battleship) 22,225 4,990 2,740 9,040 9,320 234
37 (Battleship) 929,431 162,910 89,290 393,601 409,730 784
53 (Explorer) 23,894,074 10,536,760 12,191,302 9,213,913 3,316,130 3,214

Romulan Patrol firing pattern

The Romulan Patrol fires two Energy weapons every round and a heavier Kinetic weapon every other round. The Kinetic shot hits hardest, so time repairs or mitigation around the rounds when it lands.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 2 1,283–1,568 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 1 3,080–3,764 Every other round 10% (1.5x)

The Romulans in Star Trek

The Romulans descend from Vulcans who rejected Surak’s teaching of pure logic and left their homeworld to settle Romulus and Remus. They built a secretive, militaristic empire ruled through the Senate and the long reach of the Tal Shiar, their intelligence service. Romulan ships favor stealth, and the cloaking device Starfleet first faced in the original series became their signature, letting warbirds strike and slip away. Proud, patient, and distrustful of outsiders, the Romulans spent generations as one of the Federation’s most dangerous rivals. In Star Trek Fleet Command, their patrols hold the borders of Romulan space.

Is the Romulan Patrol worth grinding?

The Romulan Patrol is a solid mid-game farm when you need Tritanium, Dilithium, or 4★ ship parts, and the wide level range means you can almost always find one that fits your ship. It also gives steady ship XP for leveling a new hull. Watch your faction standing, since repeated kills chip away at your Romulan reputation. Match your warp to the level and bring the hull that counters the variant you tag.
