Rite of Passage

Rite of Passage is a standalone Nausicaan mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. The Nausicaan Crucible is taking place near Epocalyta, and you enter it to prove your strength by clearing 6 hostiles in Nausicaa before returning to Uruk as Champion. The whole mission stays in Nausicaa at warp 8. The game lists a recommended level of 1, and the reward includes a Next Gen Data shard.

Rite of Passage objectives

Three objectives, all in one system, no choice split:

  • Investigate the transmission from Epocalyta. Location: Nausicaa.
  • Defeat 6 hostiles in Nausicaa. Location: Nausicaa.
  • Return to Uruk as Champion. Location: Nausicaa.

The transmission sets up the Crucible, and the Crucible itself is the six kills. No named enemy is listed, so any 6 hostiles in Nausicaa count and you pick your own fights. After the sixth, you report to Uruk in the same system.

Where and what warp

Rite of Passage is picked up in Nausicaa and needs warp 8 to start and to finish. Since every objective is inside Nausicaa, you never leave the system once you arrive.

The recommended level is listed as 1. What matters in practice is whether your ship can beat Nausicaa’s hostiles six times in a row.

Rite of Passage rewards

Reward Amount
Tritanium 3,000
Orion Manifest 1
Next Gen Data shards 1

Rite of Passage does not lead into another mission.

Other missions that pay Next Gen Data shards

Mission Pickup Warp Next Gen Data shards Other rewards
Rite of Passage Nausicaa 8 1 3,000 Tritanium, 1 Orion Manifest
Razor Deneva 11 1 1 Energy Manifold
Quarantine None 11 1 5,000 Parsteel, 1,800 Officer XP

Rite of Passage has the shortest range of the three. Razor also asks for 10 hostile kills, while Quarantine is part of a story chain with a named Orion Enforcer fight.

Other Nausicaa missions that pay an Orion Manifest

Several other missions picked up in Nausicaa at warp 8 also pay an Orion Manifest, including A Bad Deal, Lend a Hand, Paid Debts, I Fought the Law and Sonic Boom. If you are already in Nausicaa for the Crucible, it is worth checking which of these are open.

Tips

Choose the weakest hostiles in Nausicaa. The objective only counts kills, so easy targets clear it just as well as hard ones.

Repair when you drop low rather than pushing through. Six fights in a row add up, and a lost fight costs you the trip back out to Nausicaa.

The Next Gen Data shard is the part of the reward you cannot mine or farm, so it is the reason to run this. The mission guide lists every mission by level.
