Power Drilling

Power Drilling is a standalone mining mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you mine a huge amount of Dilithium. First you defeat the mine’s Security Vessel at Galorndon Core, then you mine 15,000 Dilithium. It is picked up in Morska, Rator or P’Jem, needs warp 20, and lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 250,000 Parsteel and an Encryption Key.

Power Drilling objectives

Two objectives, no choice split:

  • Defeat the mine’s Security Vessel. Location: Galorndon Core (enemy strength about 133,290).
  • Mine 15,000 Dilithium.

The Security Vessel guards the mine at Galorndon Core, and it has to go first. The mining step names no system, so any Dilithium you mine after that counts toward the 15,000. Galorndon Core also turns up in Sacred Ground, where you deliver data on Brennis to Kelia there.

Where and what warp

Power Drilling is offered in three pickup systems: Morska, Rator and P’Jem. It needs warp 20 to start and to complete.

The recommended level is listed as 1. The Security Vessel at about 133,000 strength is the real test, and after that you need a ship that can mine Dilithium.

Power Drilling rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 250,000
Encryption Key 1

Power Drilling does not unlock another mission.

Other Morska missions that pay an Encryption Key

Morska is one of Power Drilling’s three pickup systems, and it offers several other warp 20 missions that also pay an Encryption Key:

Mission Warp to complete Rewards besides the Encryption Key
Power Drilling 20 250,000 Parsteel
Away from the Hegemony 22 2,895,000 Parsteel and Klingon faction rewards
Lost Colors 27 16 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal and Klingon faction rewards
Towers 33 1,200 Ultra Recruit Token and Klingon faction rewards

The other three pay Klingon Credits and Points along with Romulan and Federation deductions. Two of them deal with the Gorn near the Klingon border, and Towers has you lay a trap for uncooperative Independents. Power Drilling is the only one with no faction reward, so it is the one to pick if you want to avoid faction point changes.

Tips

Beat the Security Vessel with a combat ship, then switch to a survey ship for the mining. The objectives are in order, so the fight has to come first.

Use your fastest Dilithium miner. 15,000 Dilithium is the slow part of the mission, so the ship you send matters more here than for the fight. The mission guide lists every mission by level.
