Out of the Darkness is a level 40 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you join the Augments on a dangerous trip into Klingon space. It opens at warp 1 with a meeting in Tera Lara and needs warp 53 to complete, because the work takes you to Katovug and Ty’Gokor. There are two big scripted fights, the heavier one at roughly 5.6 million strength. The reward is a mixed resource bundle led by 23,515,000 Parsteel and three 1 Day Speed Ups on top of Tritanium and Dilithium.
Out of the Darkness objectives
Eight objectives, one path, no choice split:
- Meet Khan and Rima in Tera Lara. Location: Tera Lara.
- Scout the Klingon system of Katovug. Location: Katovug.
- Retrieve the D4’s navigation logs. Location: Katovug. Enemy strength is roughly 3,358,989.
- Find the deep space research lab. Location: Ty’Gokor.
- Destroy 4 hostiles of level 39 or higher.
- Find the Advanced Cloaking Device. Location: Ty’Gokor.
- Defeat General Dorvah. Location: Ty’Gokor. Enemy strength is roughly 5,649,811.
- Transport Khan and Rima home. Location: Tera Lara.
The run starts peacefully. You pick up Khan and Rima in Tera Lara and head for Katovug to scout the system. Retrieving the D4’s navigation logs means a fight against a target of about 3.36 million strength.
From there the logs point you to Ty’Gokor. You find the research lab, then the mission asks for four kills against hostiles of level 39 or higher. No system is named for those kills, so any qualifying hostile works. Back in Ty’Gokor you find the Advanced Cloaking Device and face General Dorvah, the strongest enemy in the mission at around 5.65 million. The final step flies Khan and Rima home to Tera Lara.
Where and what warp
There is no pickup system and the mission is available from warp 1, but it needs warp 53 to finish. Katovug and Ty’Gokor are both Klingon systems, and the route loops back to Tera Lara at the end. The game lists a recommended level of 40.

All three systems host other missions, and the gap in requirements is wide. Tera Lara’s own missions sit at warp 7 to 17, while the Klingon systems ask for far more range.

Out of the Darkness is the one that ties the Augment home system to deep Klingon space, which is why its warp and level sit so far above the other Tera Lara missions.
Tips
Treat the two scripted fights as the real test. The navigation logs fight at about 3.36 million strength comes early, and General Dorvah at about 5.65 million comes late, after you have already taken damage from the hostile kills. Repair between Katovug and Ty’Gokor if you can.
Clear the four level 39 kills near Ty’Gokor. Since the mission sends you straight back to that system for the cloaking device and Dorvah, farming nearby saves a round trip.
The three 1 Day Speed Ups are the most flexible part of the reward. Three full days off a long build or research timer is worth more to most level 40 players than the raw resources.
