Legends of the Cosmos is a five-part early-game mission chain with Admiral Kirk and Spock. You explore uncharted space with Kirk, try to make peace with the Klingons, help Spock with a research project and finally choose who leads the defence of Lycia. The game lists recommended levels of 15 for Parts 1 to 3, 12 for Part 4 and 1 for Part 5, and no part needs more than warp 12. The chain starts at Rigel. Rewards are small starter resources, and the last part pays 20 skill points for either Kirk or Spock depending on your choice.

Tips for completing Legends of the Cosmos
Range is not an issue. The farthest trip is warp 12, and Part 4 never leaves your Station.
The fights are small: the Klingon ship in Part 2 is listed at about 11,300 strength, and Kirk’s path in Part 5 adds two fights at about 11,500 and 11,200. Spock’s path in Part 5 has no fight at all, only a Crystal donation.
2★ Raw Crystal comes up twice. Part 3 has you mine 750 of it, and Spock’s path in Part 5 asks you to donate 750. If you plan to pick Spock, keep a second batch of 750 before you reach Lycia.
Part 3 pays exactly 18 Quantum Communicators, the same number Part 4 asks you to collect.
Are the Legends of the Cosmos rewards worth it?
For a new account, yes, since the chain is quick and the travel is short. The resource rewards are small, with 500 Tritanium, 30,000 Parsteel, 210 Dilithium, 200 Latinum, a Relocation Token and 244 2★ ship parts. The real draw is the final choice: 20 skill points for Kirk or for Spock. Pick the officer you plan to use. For more early missions, see the STFC mission guide.
