The Klingon Strike Force is a Klingon faction hostile that spawns only as an Interceptor, at levels 60–70 in deep Klingon space (warp 900–1500). Every kill lowers your Klingon reputation while raising Federation and Romulan points, and it drops 6★ Broken Interceptor and Survey Parts. The counter is simple: bring an Explorer, since Explorers beat Interceptors.
How to beat the Klingon Strike Force
The Klingon Strike Force only appears as an Interceptor, so there is no variant to swap against: bring an Explorer at every level. An Explorer of similar or higher power wins these fights while taking far less damage than an Interceptor or Battleship of the same strength would.
For crew, follow the usual hostile-hunting principle: a captain whose ability raises weapon damage against hostiles, plus two officers that add damage or survivability. At levels 60–70 you are long past the cadet-crew stage, so pick from the current top hostile crews on the officer tier list. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named crew as a starting point rather than a fixed answer.
Levels 60–66 carry a ship ability called Pen of Kahless, which raises the Strike Force’s shield piercing, armor piercing, and accuracy for the first five rounds of combat: 50% at level 60 and 75% at levels 61–66. Those opening rounds punch through your defenses harder than the raw stats suggest, so either end the fight fast or bring enough hull to absorb the early hits. Levels 67–70 do not have the ability.
Where to find the Klingon Strike Force
Strike Forces patrol deep Klingon space. Level 60 spawns sit at warp 900 across eight systems, and the band climbs to warp 1500 by level 70, where only six systems carry it. The lower half of the band spreads across the widest set of systems (fourteen at level 63), so that is where grinding is densest.

Rewards and what it drops
The main reward is faction reputation. Every kill adds Federation Points (104,300 at level 60, scaling to 214,500 at level 70) and Romulan Points at half that rate, while subtracting Klingon Points, up to 402,200 per kill at the top of the band. Players pushing Federation or Romulan reputation farm these ships; players protecting their Klingon standing avoid them. Kills also drop 6★ scrap parts at every level, plus heavy ship XP that scales from 25,700 per kill at level 60 to 83,500 at level 70.
| Drop | What it is |
|---|---|
| Federation Points | Reputation with the Federation; every kill adds points |
| Romulan Points | Reputation with the Romulans; earned at half the Federation rate |
| Klingon Points | Reputation with the Klingons; every kill subtracts points |
| 6★ Broken Interceptor Parts | Ship scrap material, roughly 2,200 to 27,700 per kill depending on level |
| 6★ Broken Survey Parts | Ship scrap material, dropped at about half the Interceptor Parts rate |

Klingon Strike Force firing pattern
The Strike Force mounts one Energy weapon that fires every round and a group of three Kinetic weapons that fire every other round. The Kinetic volley is the dangerous one: each of its three shots hits roughly twice as hard as the Energy weapon, so the rounds where it lands are the damage spikes to plan your mitigation and repairs around. The figures below come from the level 60 record and scale up with level.
| Weapon type | Count | Damage per shot | Fires | Crit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Energy | 1 | 105,897,956–129,430,836 | Every round | 10% (1.8x) |
| Kinetic | 3 | 211,795,912–258,861,671 | Every other round | 10% (1.8x) |
The Klingons in Star Trek
The Klingons are one of Star Trek’s oldest alien powers, introduced as Federation adversaries in the original 1960s series. Their empire, ruled from the homeworld Qo’noS, runs on a warrior culture that prizes honor and death in battle, with Kahless the Unforgettable, the empire’s first emperor and unifier, at the center of its founding legend (the Pen of Kahless ability name nods to him). After decades of war and cold war with the Federation, the Khitomer Accords opened a long alliance, explored through characters like Worf, the first Klingon in Starfleet, in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.
Is the Klingon Strike Force worth grinding?
Worth it if you are working Federation or Romulan reputation at ops 60 and up, with 6★ Broken Interceptor and Survey Parts and heavy ship XP as steady side income. Skip it entirely if you are building Klingon standing, because the reputation cost per kill is steep. Practical tip: hunt the bottom of the band, where spawns cover the most systems and the Pen of Kahless ability sits at its weaker 50% value at level 60.
