Mission Kill the Shadow

Kill the Shadow is a spy-hunt mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you question three suspects, weigh the evidence, and decide for yourself who the traitor is. It picks up near New Berlin and pushes out to warp 75 at its farthest point, ending in a single fight against whoever you accuse. All three accusations pay the same 260,000 Romulan Points, 1,200 Latinum, and 600 Romulan Credits, and differ only in which 4★ Common ship parts you take home.

Kill the Shadow objectives

The mission opens with a fixed run of interrogations, then hands you a decision that changes how it ends. Work through the opening in order:

  • Meet Vorun for the interrogation at New Berlin.
  • Talk to the Rebel Scout at New Berlin, on the planet Firenze.
  • Speak with the former-Loyalist guard at Mina.
  • Decide who to accuse of being the spy.

The accusation splits the mission three ways. Whichever suspect you name, the last two objectives are the same shape: travel to that suspect’s system, then destroy their ship.

  • Evacuation Coordinator: find and destroy the target at Stradania, a ship of roughly 1,950,820 strength.
  • Location Scout: find and destroy the target at Yreva, a ship of roughly 1,969,977 strength.
  • Former-Loyalist Guard: find and destroy the target at Ortexa, a ship of roughly 1,969,977 strength.

Where and what warp

The mission starts close to home and reaches warp 75 at its deepest, which is the number to plan your warp range around. The opening interrogations sit at New Berlin and Mina, both well inside that range. The long leg is the final one, and it depends on your accusation: Stradania, Yreva, or Ortexa. Ortexa in particular sits out at the warp 75 edge, so fit a ship that can already make warp 75 before you commit to a suspect. If it falls short, you will stall on the last objective with the rest of the mission already behind you.

Kill the Shadow rewards

Every accusation pays the same core rewards: 260,000 Romulan Points, 1,200 Latinum, and 600 Romulan Credits. The only reward that changes is the 4★ Common ship parts, which follow the suspect you chose.

Accusation Enemy strength 4★ Common ship parts
Evacuation Coordinator ~1,950,820 Explorer Parts
Location Scout ~1,969,977 Battleship Parts
Former-Loyalist Guard ~1,969,977 Interceptor Parts

Completing the mission also subtracts 262,080 Federation Points on any path, so your Federation reputation takes a hit whichever suspect you accuse. Kill the Shadow continues the surrounding Romulan storyline and unlocks the next mission in the arc.

Tips

Warp 75 is the gate. Check your range before you start, because the final target sits at the far edge of the mission and every reward waits behind that last jump.

Pick your accusation by the parts you need. The three suspects pay identical rewards except for the ship-part type, so choose the path that hands you the 4★ Common Explorer, Battleship, or Interceptor Parts you are short on.

Bring one combat-ready ship. The final target sits near 1.97 million strength, so a solid single ship clears it without a full fleet.

Factor in the Federation cost. Each path drops your Federation reputation by 262,080 points, so if you are actively working Federation rep, weigh that loss before you accept the accusation.

Expect to meet this one mid-storyline. It follows The Best Defense and leads into The First Shot, so most players reach it while working the Romulan arc around it rather than seeking it out alone.
