Into the Open is a story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you gather Tiza’s equipment. It has a recommended level of 29, starts at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to complete. The work happens in Exchange Beta: find Tiza’s base, extract her belongings, and beat an Eclipse ship at roughly 198,251 strength. The reward is 259,000 Tritanium and twelve 3 Hour Speed Ups, and it unlocks Hunting the Snake. The speed ups make it a strong payout for one fight.

Into the Open objectives

The story line is to gather Tiza’s equipment. There are four objectives and no choice split:

  • Find Tiza’s Base. Location: Exchange Beta.
  • Extract Tiza’s belongings. Location: Exchange Beta.
  • Defeat the Eclipse ship. Location: Exchange Beta. Enemy strength is roughly 198,251.
  • Return to your Station.

The first three steps all happen in Exchange Beta. Once you have Tiza’s belongings, an Eclipse ship turns up, and beating it is the only fight in the mission. The last step brings you home with the gear.

Where and what warp

No pickup system is listed. The mission opens at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to complete, and Exchange Beta is the only named system.

The recommended level is 29, which lines up with the rest of this stretch of the storyline. The Eclipse ship at roughly 198,251 strength is the practical test.

Into the Open rewards

Reward Amount
Tritanium 259,000
3 Hour Speed Up 12

Completing it unlocks the next mission, Hunting the Snake.

How it compares with the next mission

Into the Open and Hunting the Snake share the same recommended level and warp, and both pit you against Eclipse ships. Current game data:

Mission Level Warp to complete Main fight Rewards
Into the Open 29 24 Eclipse ship in Exchange Beta (about 198,251) 259,000 Tritanium, 12 3 Hour Speed Ups
Hunting the Snake 29 24 Eclipse ship in Kuzukoh (about 204,300) 24 3★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 128,000 Dilithium

The fights are close in strength, so a ship that clears Into the Open should manage the next one too. Hunting the Snake also asks for a 100,000 Dilithium donation at Eurydice’s tradepost in Valance, so it helps to have that ready.

Tips

Send a combat ship. The first two steps are travel, but the Eclipse ship appears right after you extract Tiza’s belongings, so the ship that goes in is the one that fights.

Save the speed ups for a long job. Twelve 3 Hour Speed Ups add up to 36 hours, which is best spent on a long building upgrade or research rather than broken up on short timers.

The return step ends the mission at your Station, so you can repair right after the Eclipse fight and head straight out to Kuzukoh for the next mission. The mission before this one is On Your Feet, and other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
