Homing Instincts is a level 63 Romulan mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which a Reman scientist, Belik, starts to open an alien beacon that Maia recognises as Actian Brood. It is picked up in ilargia, needs warp 1,100 to start and to complete, and never leaves ilargia. There are two fights against Actian Brood ships, each about 4.19 billion strength. The reward is 39 15 Minute Σ-Repair Speed Ups, 249,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium and a large Romulan reputation gain.
Homing Instincts objectives
There are six objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Take Belik to investigate the site. Location: ilargia.
- Get into a defensive formation. Location: ilargia.
- Defeat the Actian Brood vessel. Location: ilargia. Enemy strength about 4,194,200,695.
- Land Belik on the homing beacon. Location: ilargia.
- Destroy the Actian Brood ship. Location: ilargia. Enemy strength about 4,194,200,695.
- Pick up the science crew. Location: ilargia.
Lord Vrellok has told Belik you are dependable on research missions, and he wants help with a beacon found in ilargia. He has already started breaching its casing when Maia recognises the patterns and tells him to stop immediately. Vapour escapes: an Actian Brood homing signal. Two ships are already on their way.
After the first, Belik wants to seal the beacon or destroy it, so you land him on it. He sets to work with molecular bonding paste while you hold off the second ship. By the end your ship has hull breaches on three decks. Belik promises a report and adds a rule for the future: do not crack the eggs in space.

Fifteen Romulan missions at levels 62 to 64, picked up in Lanasta, ilargia, Qudorin, Grida-7 and izar, follow the Reman Initiative. All pay Romulan Credits and Romulan Points and cost Klingon and Federation Points. Their other rewards:

Homing Instincts is the only one of the fifteen that pays repair speed ups, which suit a mission with two back-to-back fights.
Tips
Both Brood ships have the same strength, and the step between them is a short hop to land Belik. Repair if you can before the second.
