Home Soil is a single mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where a Vulcan historian asks for help recovering fragments of an ancient crystal from her destroyed home planet in the Vulcan system. You pick it up in Doska at warp 19, and it needs warp 40 to complete. The game lists a recommended level of 1. There is one fight, a Nausicaan Thief of about 54,559. The reward is 1,012,000 Parsteel and 149,000 Tritanium, and finishing it unlocks Trenches.
Home Soil objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Travel to Vulcan. Location: Vulcan.
- Locate a fragment of the crystal. Location: Vulcan.
- Defeat the Nausicaan Thief. Location: Vulcan. Enemy strength is roughly 54,559.
- Return the crystal fragment to Sol. Location: Sol.
The first three steps all happen in Vulcan. You arrive, find a fragment, and then have to take it back from a Nausicaan Thief. The last step carries the fragment to Sol, where the mission completes.
Where and what warp
The pickup system is Doska, which needs warp 19. Completing the mission needs warp 40, more than double the pickup, because the final delivery is to Sol.
All three systems on the route, Doska, Vulcan and Sol, are in Federation space. That gap between the pickup and completion warp is the thing to plan around. A ship that can reach Doska and Vulcan may still not have the range for Sol, and the mission cannot finish until it does.
The recommended level is listed as 1. The fight is light for a warp 40 mission, so range is the real bar.

What comes next in Trenches
Trenches sends you to help the Federation repair its massacred fleet at Azati. It needs warp 27 and has three objectives: meet the Admiral in the Azati system, resupply Starfleet with 500 G3 Raw Ore, and top up the local fleet’s supply with 80,000 Tritanium.

The 149,000 Tritanium from Home Soil covers the 80,000 Tritanium Trenches asks for, with room to spare. The 500 G3 Raw Ore is the part to gather separately.
Tips
Check your warp before accepting. The pickup at warp 19 makes Home Soil look like a mid-teens mission, but the finish needs warp 40.
Any combat ship with the range can handle the thief. At about 54,559 strength it is a small fight next to the travel involved.
