Fight Fire With Fire

Fight Fire With Fire is a level 9 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you help an Ostiman Senator with her defense force. The whole job is one objective: destroy 10 hostiles of level 8 or higher. It can be picked up in eight different systems, needs warp 5 to start and to finish, and pays 4,000 Parsteel and a Cargo Crate. It is a quick hunting task that fits into any early mining or grinding session.

Fight Fire With Fire objectives

There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Destroy 10 Hostiles of Level 8 or higher.

No system is named for the kills, so any hostile at level 8 or above counts wherever you find it. There is no named boss and no return trip.

Where and what warp

The mission is offered in eight systems: Dyrr, Eral, Worhundelja, Palimer, Volta, Kito, Eravan and Jinnia. All of them are level 9 neutral systems. Warp 5 covers both accepting it and completing it, and the recommended level is 9.

Because the kills can happen anywhere, the easiest plan is to stay in the system where you picked the mission up. The game lists three Takret Militia ships at level 8 to 10 in each of the eight pickup systems, and every one of them counts toward the objective. With only three listed per system, plan on visiting more than one of the pickup systems to reach ten kills.

Fight Fire With Fire rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 4,000
Cargo Crate 1

Fight Fire With Fire is a standalone mission. It does not unlock a follow-up.

Other missions around Dyrr

Dyrr hosts a small cluster of low-level missions that you can stack with this one while you are in the area.

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete
Fight Fire With Fire 9 5
Nest Egg 9 5
Blood From a Stone 10 5
There Is Always A Price 11 5

All four need only warp 5, so a ship at this stage can work through them without upgrading its warp range. Fight Fire With Fire has no fixed location for its kills, which makes it easy to finish alongside the others.

Tips

Accept the mission before you start a hostile-hunting session. Ten hostiles at level 8 or higher go by quickly once you are already clearing a system.

Pick targets close to level 8 rather than the strongest ones in range. Any hostile at level 8 or above counts the same, so there is no benefit in taking on tougher ships than you need.

The Cargo Crate and 4,000 Parsteel are small, but they cost almost nothing extra if you were grinding hostiles anyway. More early missions are on the mission guide.
