Nest Egg is a one-step mining mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 9. You mine 1,500 Parsteel to make a system a less appealing target for passing pirate groups. It can be picked up in any of eight systems, needs warp 5 to start and to finish, and pays 3 K’Bisch shards and a Cargo Crate. With no fight and a small mining target, it is an easy way to add K’Bisch shards early on.

Nest Egg objectives

There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Mine 1,500 Parsteel.

The mission data gives no separate system for the mining step, only the list of pickup systems. You need a ship that can mine Parsteel, and 1,500 is the whole requirement. There is nothing to fight and nothing to donate.

Where and what warp

Nest Egg can be picked up in any of these eight systems:

  • Kito
  • Worhundelja
  • Jinnia
  • Eral
  • Volta
  • Palimer
  • Dyrr
  • Eravan

It needs warp 5 to start and warp 5 to complete, so a ship that can reach any of those systems has the range to finish. The recommended level is 9. With eight pickup points, take it from whichever system is closest to where you already mine.

Nest Egg rewards

Reward Amount
K’Bisch shards 3
Cargo Crate 1

The current game data shows no follow-up mission unlocked by Nest Egg.

Other early missions that pay K’Bisch shards

In the officer data, K’Bisch needs 5 shards for rank 1 and 15 for rank 2. Nest Egg’s 3 shards get you most of the way to rank 1 on their own, and several other mining missions at similar levels pay K’Bisch shards too:

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete What it asks Rewards
Malurian Tritanium 8 5 Mine 100 Tritanium 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key, 2 K’Bisch shards
Nest Egg 9 5 Mine 1,500 Parsteel 3 K’Bisch shards, 1 Cargo Crate
Fleeing the Nest 10 8 Mine 300 Tritanium, return to the Station 3 K’Bisch shards, 500 Officer XP, 60 Tritanium
Home Grown Tritanium 13 11 Mine 900 Tritanium 4,000 Parsteel, 3 K’Bisch shards

Nest Egg and Malurian Tritanium together come to exactly 5 shards, the rank 1 figure. All four missions add up to 11.

Tips

Send a mining ship, not a combat ship. The only objective is mining Parsteel, and nothing in the mission needs you to fight.

Pair it with Malurian Tritanium if you want K’Bisch. Both need warp 5, both are single mining objectives, and between them they cover the 5 shards the officer data lists for rank 1.

The Cargo Crate is the other reward. The mission data does not say what it contains, so treat it as a bonus rather than a reason to run the mission. For every other mission by level, see the mission guide.
