Ethereal is a level 64 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that starts in Holst, where a terrified Starfleet doctor has run into an Ethereal. It needs warp 1,200 to start and to complete, and it ends with you disabling the doctor’s own ship. The rewards are 110,000 6★ Raw Gas, 328,000 Raw Σ-Dilithium, 3,700 Federation Credits and 138 million Federation Points, but it also costs Klingon and Romulan reputation. It is a strong pick for Federation-aligned players with the range to reach it.
Ethereal objectives
There are five objectives, in order, with no choice split:
- Meet with Doctor Lippett. Location: Eranias.
- Take Lippett to the Holst system. Location: Holst.
- Defeat 5 hostiles of Level 63 or higher.
- Attempt to communicate with the Ethereals. Location: Holst.
- Disable Lippett’s vessel. Location: Holst (enemy strength ~9,045,315,443).
The mission opens in Eranias, where you meet Doctor Lippett, and then moves back to Holst. Before the contact attempt you have to clear five hostiles of level 63 or higher; no system is attached to that step. After you try to talk to the Ethereals, the last objective turns on Lippett, and you have to disable the doctor’s vessel in Holst. That is the only scripted fight in the mission.
Where and what warp
The mission is picked up in Holst, and both the start and the finish need warp 1,200, so you need that range just to reach it. The work moves between Eranias and Holst, with the hostile kills wherever you choose to find them. The recommended level is 64.

The two negative lines are reputation losses, not rewards you collect. The Klingon loss is more than twice the size of the Federation gain.
Tips
Think about the reputation swing before you finish this one. You gain 138 million Federation Points but lose almost 318 million Klingon Points and about 71 million Romulan Points. Bring a combat ship. The hostile step asks for level 63 or higher targets, one level under the recommended level, and the Lippett fight is listed at about 9.0 billion strength. The hostile guide helps you find level 63 or higher targets for the kill count.
Warp is the other gate. Warp 1,200 is needed to start as well as to finish, so a strong ship without the range still cannot take this mission on.
