Hidden Futures, Forgotten Past is a late story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command about tracking down another Progenitor artifact. You investigate a site in Er’Tama, meet Captain Markona in Kayla, bring the artifact home, and then have to upgrade your R&D Department to level 45. It can be accepted at warp 1 and needs warp 120 to complete. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but the R&D 45 requirement is the real gate. The reward is 22 4★ Rare Refined Gas and 90 100K Dilithium Tokens, and finishing it unlocks Introspection.
Hidden Futures, Forgotten Past objectives
The story line asks you to track down another Progenitor artifact. There are four objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Investigate the site. Location: Er’Tama.
- Meet with Captain Markona. Location: Kayla.
- Bringt das Artefakt zu eurer Station zurück.
- Upgrade Research & Development to level 45.
There is no fight. The first three steps are travel, and the last is a station upgrade that can take far longer than the flying.

The mission can be accepted at warp 1, but Er’Tama and Kayla need warp 120 to complete it. The recommended level is listed as 1. Since the final objective is R&D level 45, the mission cannot finish until your station reaches that point.

The level 45 upgrade takes 259 days and 3 hours unboosted. Its 8,000 4★ Rare Refined Gas is the line to watch; the mission’s own 22 Rare Refined Gas is a very small fraction of it. The separate R&D Department Level 45 station mission pays 70 100K Dilithium Tokens and 60 8 Hour Speed Ups for the same upgrade.

This is the only one of the three that ties progress to a building upgrade, and its warp is a little lower than the two before it.
Tips
Accept the mission early and let the R&D upgrade finish it. The travel steps are quick, so the mission will sit at the upgrade objective until R&D 45 is done.
Spend the Dilithium tokens on the next research or upgrade that needs Dilithium; going by the token name, 90 of them come to 9 million Dilithium.
