The Apostate is a level 67 Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, picked up in Tantuq. A Starfleet officer, Lieutenant Arlen, asks for a lift to Klingon space and claims it is classified business, but he is really defecting to the Klingon Empire. It needs warp 1400 to start and to complete, includes two fights against Starfleet ships, and pays 6,000 Σ-Tritanium, 18,000 Σ-Parsteel and Klingon reputation. It is the only Tantuq mission that pays Σ-Tritanium.
The Apostate objectives
There are six objectives and no choice split:
- Pick up the deserter from Tandora. Location: Shrev’s Eye.
- Proceed to the Föderation checkpoint. Location: Triga-5.
- Defeat Starfleet security. Location: Triga-5.
- Escape from Starfleet. Location: Solas Astra.
- Disable the USS Bradshaw. Location: Solas Astra.
- Deliver Lieutenant Arlen to Eratia. Location: Tantuq.
Arlen says his shuttle broke down and he must reach Tantuq, but will not say why. Your crew notes his racing heart. He admits you must pass a Federation checkpoint in Triga-5, and when security there asks to board, he tells you to disable their ship. That ship is listed at about 9.16 billion strength.
You flee to Solas Astra, but the USS Bradshaw catches up. Its captain, Biehn, reveals that Arlen told the same story to the last Independent who tried to help him, and that he is defecting. Arlen insists he has resigned and that you will only be paid if you disable the Bradshaw, listed at about 9.15 billion. At Eratia, a Klingon officer mocks Arlen’s request but beams him to the brig to face trial.

The Apostate is picked up in Tantuq, then takes you to Shrev’s Eye, Triga-5 and Solas Astra before ending back in Tantuq. Both the start and the finish need warp 1400, and the recommended level is 67.

Tips
The two fights are split by a travel step to Solas Astra, so you can check your hull between the security ship and the Bradshaw.
This mission has the longest route of the three Tantuq missions, with stops in four systems. Warp 1400 covers all of them.
