Sending a Message is one of the very first combat missions in Star Trek Fleet Command. You scan for Nausicaan Raiders near your station, destroy one enemy ship of about 143 strength and return to base. It needs only warp 1 to start and complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 60 Parsteel, and finishing it unlocks the next mission, Awakening. It works as a first taste of combat more than as a source of Ressourcen.
Sending a Message objectives
The story line asks you to locate and intercept some Nausicaan Raiders. There are three objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Scan for enemies.
- Destroy the enemy ship. Enemy strength is roughly 143.
- Return to base.
No system is named for any step. The scan finds the target, the fight is a single ship at 143 strength, and the mission ends when you dock again.
Wo und welcher Warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. Everything happens close to your station, so the ship you start the game with is enough to reach it.
The recommended level is 1, and here the listed level fits: an enemy of about 143 strength is one of the weakest scripted enemies in the game’s Missionen.
Sending a Message rewards
The only reward is 60 Parsteel. Completing the mission also unlocks the next mission in the chain, Awakening.
Other first-hour missions with the same enemy strength
Several other early warp 1 missions use an enemy of the same listed strength, about 143. Current game Daten des Spiels listen sie so auf:
| Mission | Recommended level | What you fight | Belohnungen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senden einer Nachricht | 1 | A Nausicaan Raider | 60 Parsteel |
| Distress Call | 1 | A Cardassian ship, after a combat simulation | 10 Latinum, 100 Parsteel |
| Mistaken Identity | 2 | Urkwen’s ship, while saving Haulers from Nausicaan pirates | 75 Parsteel |
| Fragmente | 2 | An attacker threatening a defenseless Wissenschaft Schiff | 20 Recruit Tokens |
All four finish at warp 1. Of the three that pay Parsteel, Sending a Message pays the least, and Distress Call is the only one that adds Latinum.
More Nausicaan trouble early on
The Nausicaans turn up again in the next few levels with slightly tougher ships. Gavolars Wette (recommended level 3) has you confront the Nausicaan bounty hunter Gavolar, at about 272 strength. Ungebetene Gäste (recommended level 6) asks you to defend your station from a band of Nausicaan mercenaries, at about 453 strength, and pays 700 Parsteel with two 5 Minute Speed Ups.
Tips
Use your starting combat ship. There is nothing to prepare, and the fight is short.
Dock straight after. The last objective is the return trip, so the mission will not close until your ship is home.
Spend the Parsteel on your first building upgrades. Operations level 2 costs just 50 Parsteel in current building data, so even 60 helps at this stage. Other starter missions are on the Missionsleitfaden.
