Schwarm-Missionen

The Swarm missions are the story quests in Star Trek Fleet Command built around the Swarm, the enemy from beyond that attacks civilians and military fleets alike, whether they answer to the Federation, the Romulans or the Klingons. There are 29 of them: 20 story missions and the nine-part USS Franklin chain, in which Scotty builds the USS Franklin, the Federation ship meant to push the Swarm back, while you upgrade your station. None has a recommended level, and the warp needed to complete them runs from 1 for the Franklin chain up to 23. The headline rewards are 25 Jaylah shards, large stacks of Ultra and Premium Recruit Tokens, Swarm Biominerals and the eight Franklin warp components.

How the Swarm missions work

The story missions come in two warp bands. The first band, the Jaylah storyline, needs warp 13 to complete. It opens with Die Quelle, where you treat Jaylah’s injuries, and runs through Das Leben nach Krall with Scotty and Jaylah in Andvaris, then Jenseits von Altamid und Das Nest. Befall leads into Richtlinien and then Gegenschwarm, the one mission here at warp 15, and Einschließungsprotokoll closes the storyline with a fight against Zenith’s Invader.

The second band jumps to warp 17 to 23, and the fights get much harder, from tens of thousands of strength in the Jaylah missions to around 577,000 in Pestilenz und Waffenstillstand. Act As One opens this stretch with a strange signal traced to Niawillen. Several missions chain in pairs or threes: Lost in Translation unlocks Ich sehe klar und deutlich and then Eine Insel ohne Meer, Raubbau unlocks Ich bin nicht leicht zu finden, Die Nadel im Heuhaufen unlocks Bewaffnete, and Pestilence unlocks Armistice.

Many of the missions ask you to collect and donate Frequency Modulators, which drop from Swarm hostiles. The early asks are small, 400 in Infestation and 600 in Containment Protocol, but Spiralen am Himmel wants 6,000 and Lost in Translation wants 8,000, so keep farming Swarm hostiles as you go. Several missions also split on a choice, among them Beyond Altamid, The Nest, Directives and Stille Partner, and each path pays a different reward.

Die USS Franklin chain runs separately at warp 1 with no travel or combat. Part 1 asks you to build the ship, and each part after that is one building upgrade, from Shipyard level 18 up to Engine Technology Lab level 32.

Swarm mission rewards worth chasing

Jaylah shards come from six missions: The Source pays 2, Infestation 3, Ich bin nicht leicht zu finden 4, Containment Protocol and Lost in Translation 5 each, and Pestilence 6. Recruit tokens are the other big draw. Needle in a Haystack pays 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens and 150 Premium, Directives and Predatory pay up to 400 Ultra each, and I See Clearly can pay 225 Premium Recruit Tokens depending on your choice.

The USS Franklin chain pays 1,800 Swarm Biominerals, eight Franklin warp components from the Warp Interlock to the Warp Core, and just under 250,000 Dilithium across its nine parts. Armistice pays 100,000 Frequency Modulators, and Weaponized pays 2.3 million Parsteel and 266,000 Tritanium.
