Protocol Origin: Prologue is a level 61 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that opens the Protocol Origin story, where Trelane’s meddling with the time vortex tears a rift near your station. It starts and completes at warp 1, and the work is three back-to-back fights against ships from other eras, each listed at over 2.1 billion strength. The rewards are two Toryn shards, 500,000 Ship XP and four 12 Hr Peace Shields. For a warp 1 mission, that is a generous payout if your ship can win the fights.
Protocol Origin: Prologue objectives
Your station’s sensors pick up a stream of tachyon particles in the local system, a sign of a possible space-time fracture. Following it, you find a natural temporal rift with a 22nd-century Freedom-class ship sitting in it, weapons primed. Then Trelane appears on your bridge uninvited and starts offering tactical advice.
- Investigate the temporal distortion.
- Defeat the Freedom-class. Enemy strength is roughly 2,222,048,490.
- Defeat the Romulan ship. Enemy strength is roughly 2,113,383,600.
- Defeat the Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Enemy strength is roughly 2,127,123,225.
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.
Each fight pushes a ship back through the rift to its own time, and a new one comes out after it, first a Romulanisch ship and then a Klingonisch Bird-of-Prey. Between fights, Trelane admits he was bored, went looking into the time vortex, and seems to have angered it. Back at your station, Maia activates Protocol Origin, a failsafe in her Progenitor code, and finds corruption across five separate timelines that you will have to repair. There is no choice split.
Wo und welcher Warp
The game lists warp 1 both to start and to complete, and none of the objectives names a system. Everything happens close to home: the rift is in your local system, and the last step is back at your station. The recommended level is 61, and the three fights, not the warp, are what decide whether you can finish it.

The Protocol Origin timelines
Maia’s scan finds five corrupted timelines, and there are five Protocol Origin chains named after captains, each with five parts. The Epilogue, where you seal the rift, is also set at level 61 and needs warp 25 to complete.
| Mission chain | Teile | Recommended level | Warp to complete |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protocol Origin: Bogenschütze | 5 | 61 | 17 to 47 |
| Protocol Origin: Janeway | 5 | 61 | 34 to 250 |
| Protocol Origin: Kirk | 5 | 20 | 1 to 15 |
| Protocol Origin: Picard | 5 | 61 | 47 to 900 |
| Protocol Origin: Sisko | 5 | 61 | 25 to 900 |
The Kirk chain stands out with a recommended level of 20 and short warp, while the Picard and Sisko chains each include parts that need warp 900.
Tips
Go in with a ship that can take three fights in a row. The Freedom-class, the Romulan ship and the Bird-of-Prey are all listed between about 2.11 and 2.22 billion strength, and they come one after another with no other objective in between. The Freedom-class is the strongest of the three, so if you can beat the first fight, the other two should follow.
The four 12 Hr Peace Shields are worth keeping in reserve rather than using right away, and the 500,000 Ship XP is a solid boost for whichever ship you use.
If you are building Toryn, this mission is two shards for no warp at all. The same story continues with Trelane through the timeline chains and the Epilogue, which pays Trelane shards. More missions at this level are on the mission guide.
