The Gladius is a grade 3 Rare Romulan Interceptor built to hunt hostiles. Its Secret Weapon ability stacks a heavy damage bonus against hostile targets, and a cloaking refit lets it slip in and out of contested systems unseen. You can build it once your Shipyard reaches level 32. For newer Romulanisch players who want a fast, hard-hitting grinder, it earns its slot.
How to get the Gladius
The Gladius needs 120 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 32 before you can start the build. Its blueprints have been available for in-game Credits rather than locked behind a single event, which keeps the ship within reach for players still building up a Romulan fleet.
The base build cost is 3,750,000 Tritanium, 90,000 Dilithium, 4,100 3★ Common Refined Crystal, and 625 3★ Common Refined Gas, with a build time of 23 days. Buildings, research, and buffs shorten that time in practice, so treat the figure as a ceiling rather than a fixed wait.
Gladius ability
The Gladius carries Secret Weapon, an always-active ability that raises the ship’s damage when it fights hostiles. It starts at 35% at ship level 1 and climbs to 80% at level 45. Because the bonus only applies against hostiles, the Gladius shines clearing grind targets and mission enemies rather than in player-versus-player fights. Level the ship up and that damage bonus keeps growing, which is what keeps a grade 3 hull useful well past the point you unlock it.
Gladius active ability
The Gladius can also mount Schiffstarnung, a player-triggered ability you unlock through a refit. While it is active, the ship stays hidden until the cloak’s duration runs out, or until you enter combat, begin mining, or dock at a station. Use it to cross contested space or reposition without drawing fire, then drop the cloak to strike. Cloaking is unusual on a ship this small, and it is a big part of the Gladius’s appeal.
Stats and tiers
Base values from the current game Daten; research, buffs, and officers raise them in play. The table shows three anchor tiers rather than every step.
| Ebene | Warp (speed / range) | Impulse | Cargo (protected) | Shield HP | Hull HP | Health (displayed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2.8 / 33 | 115 | 12,000 (250) | 32,344 | 36,866 | 34,605 |
| 5 | 3.2 / 46 | 115 | 21,340 (310) | 32,344 | 36,866 | 34,605 |
| 9 | 3.6 / 65 | 115 | 48,000 (500) | 32,344 | 36,866 | 34,605 |
Warp range climbs steadily from tier to tier, so each tier opens up more of the map, while cargo space nearly quadruples from tier 1 to tier 9.
Weapons and firing pattern
Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is how many rounds it waits between shots after that. These are the weapon stats at max tier 9.
| Waffe | Typ | Shots | Warm-up | Cool-down | Damage | Crit chance | Crit damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kinetic cannon 1 | Kinetic | 1 | 1 | 2 | 39,442–47,330 | 10% | 150% |
| Kinetic cannon 2 | Kinetic | 1 | 1 | 2 | 39,442–47,330 | 10% | 150% |
| Phaser laser | Energie | 1 | 1 | 1 | 16,548–20,224 | 10% | 150% |
The two kinetic cannons hit far harder than the energy phaser but fire less often, so the Gladius leans on kinetic damage. That makes kinetic-boosting officers a natural fit.
Crew slots and officer bonus
The Gladius opens officer slots as it levels, reaching a full seven at ship level 45.
| Ship level | Officer slots |
|---|---|
| 5 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 20 | 3 |
| 30 | 4 |
| 35 | 5 |
| 40 | 6 |
| 45 | 7 |
The ship also boosts the officers you crew on it, raising their attack, defense, and health stats by the same amount as it climbs the ladder below.
| Amount | Bonus (attack / defense / health) |
|---|---|
| 200 | 30% |
| 400 | 60% |
| 650 | 90% |
| 900 | 120% |
| 1,200 | 150% |
| 1,600 | 180% |
| 2,200 | 210% |
| 3,000 | 240% |
| 4,000 | 270% |
| 6,000 | 300% |
Gladius refits
Refits unlock extra abilities and a skin for the Gladius, each paid for with ship shards.
| Nachrüstung | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gladius Cloaking | Enables the Ship Cloaking ability. Costs 80 shards. |
| Gladius Relentless Assault | Unlocks the Relentless Assault ability, which raises base damage against hostiles and armadas, scaling from 2000% at tier 9 to 3000% at tier 18. Requires a level 32 Armory and 80 shards. |
| Hijacked TOS Gladius Class | A skin that increases the ship’s base weapon damage by 300% and the cost efficiency of Gladius parts, materials, and resources by 100%. Costs 60 shards. |
Crew for the Gladius
Secret Weapon rewards a bridge built around hostile damage, so the Gladius wants a captain whose ability boosts weapon or kinetic damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add to attack or critical hits. With two kinetic cannons doing most of the work, kinetic-focused officers pull the most weight here.
Good officer picks shift as the game updates, so check the Officer Tier List for current crews rather than locking into one setup.

The Gladius in Star Trek
The Gladius is a Star Trek Fleet Befehl original rather than a ship from the shows or films. Its name borrows from the gladius, the short sword carried by Roman legionaries, which fits a light, close-range attacker. In the game’s own telling, the Gladius class is a classic Romulan interceptor built for mobility and sharp changes of direction, with a slim hull meant to slip away from incoming torpedo fire on an attack run.

Is the Gladius worth it?
For a grade 3 Rare interceptor, the Gladius is a dependable hostile grinder through the early and middle game, and its cloak gives it a trick most ships its size lack. The Secret Weapon bonus keeps climbing as you level it, so it stays useful against hostiles long after you build it. Once your Betrieb reaches level 46 you can scrap it for parts, so it doubles as a feeder later on. Romulan-leaning players who want an efficient hunter should pick it up.
