Mistakes Were Made is a story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you investigate a derelict Borg ship and deal with a scavenger who got there first. It is part of the Borg arc. The game lists a recommended level of 1 and the mission needs warp 17 to finish. Halfway through you choose to fight the scavenger or pay 160,000 Tritanium, and the rewards differ: 26,000 Dilithium and two 1 Day Speed Ups, or 1,355,000 Parsteel and three 1 Day Speed Ups.

Mistakes Were Made objectives

The first three objectives are the same for everyone:

  • Meet with Toryn. Location: Opla.
  • Find the derelict Borg ship. Location: Ajilon.
  • Besiegen Sie 18 Feinde der Stufe 26 oder höher.

Then the mission asks how you want to deal with the scavenger, and the path splits.

Attack the scavenger

  • Defeat the scavenger. Location: Ajilon. Enemy strength is roughly 133,020.
  • Scan the derelict Borg probe. Location: Ajilon.
  • Return the Tribbles to your Station.

Rewards for this path: 26,000 Dilithium and two 1 Day Speed Ups.

Pay the scavenger

  • Donate 160,000 Tritanium.
  • Scan the derelict Borg probe. Location: Ajilon.
  • Return the Tribbles to your Station.

Rewards for this path: 1,355,000 Parsteel and three 1 Day Speed Ups. The game marks this as the Klingonisch path.

Wo und welcher Warp

The mission can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 17 to complete. Toryn waits in Opla, a level 20 neutral system, and everything after that happens in Ajilon, a level 25 neutral system, apart from the final trip home.

The recommended level is listed as 1. The 18 hostiles at level 26 or higher are the real test, since they come before the choice and every player has to clear them.

Mistakes Were Made rewards

Path Belohnungen
Attack the scavenger 26,000 Dilithium, 2 × 1 Day Speed Up
Pay the scavenger 1,355,000 Parsteel, 3 × 1 Day Speed Up

Either path unlocks the next mission, Tribble-Bedrohung. The mission before this one is Wir tun, was wir tun müssen, which finishes at warp 22.

Welchen Weg du wählen solltest

Paying costs 160,000 Tritanium but skips the fight and pays more: an extra 1 Day Speed Up and 1,355,000 Parsteel. Fighting costs nothing but hull damage and pays 26,000 Dilithium instead.

If Tritanium is tight or you need Dilithium, attack. The scavenger at about 133,020 strength is a fair fight for a ship that just cleared 18 level 26 hostiles. If you have spare Tritanium and want the extra day of speed up, pay.

Tips

Clear the 18 hostiles efficiently. The objective only asks for level 26 or higher, so pick the lowest qualifying targets your ship kills fastest.

Repair before the scavenger if you plan to attack. The same ship may have fought 18 times already, and the scavenger is the strongest single enemy in the mission.

The Tribbles you bring home lead straight into the next mission. Other missions sorted by level are on the Missionsleitfaden.
