Fallback

Fallback is an eight-part mission chain about the first Borg incursions into Federation space from a rift to another universe. You answer colony distress calls, follow a strange signal to a cloaked Borg-Sphäre, wake its crew (Data and his former Enterprise-E crewmates) and help them hold back the invasion. All eight parts are recommended for level 55. The chain starts at warp 1, the early parts need only warp 1 to 185 to complete, and Parts 6 to 8 need warp 320. Rewards include about 37.8 billion Parsteel, 13.4 billion Tritanium, an FCM Data shard and a Zefram Cochrane shard.

Every part starts at warp 1, and completing one part opens the next.

Fallback Part 1

Investigate the Borg threat in Federation space. A colony reports a Borg probe that has been sitting in its system; it turns hostile as soon as you arrive, and a second distress call follows from Hilltara, where the Borg are overrunning local forces.

• Locate the distress signal origin, in Fibona.
• Chase the Borg probe, in Fibona.
• Destroy the Borg probe, in Fibona (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Follow the other distress signal, in Hilltara.
• Attack the Borg formation from the flank, in Hilltara (enemy strength ~29,678,595).

Fallback Part 2

Defend the colonies from the Borg and find a way to predict future incursions. A spatial anomaly is opening in Hilltara, and 473 civilians still need to get out.

• Help the colonists evacuate, in Hilltara.
• Defeat the approaching Borg ship, in Hilltara (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Escort the colonists to safety, in Benzar.
• Join the Emergency Research Group, in Siiolux.
• Use 250M Dilithium to run an in-depth analysis of the Borg ship sample.

Warp to complete: 60.

Rewards: 2,786,667,000 Tritanium, 118,000 5★ Raw Gas, 3 1 Day Assignment Speed Up.

Fallback Part 3

Investigate the odd signal associated with the Borg incursions. The analysis points to a set of coordinates, and a stronger copy of the signal leads you to Rylan, where two Borg Drone vessels are behaving strangely.

• Follow the signal to the Sozin sector, in Sozin.
• Investigate the system in the cluster, in Yarega.
• Reach the centre of Borg drone activity, in Rylan.
• Defeat the approaching Borg Drone, in Rylan (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Clear the system from the Borg Drones, in Rylan (enemy strength ~29,678,595).

Warp to complete: 185.

Rewards: 264,000,000 Dilithium, 59,000 5★ Raw Kristall, 500 Romulan Recruit Token.

Fallback Part 4

Learn more about the mysterious Borg Sphere. The signal was a Sphere dropping its cloak. Once you restore its power it hails you, and its operator turns out to be Data, who explains how his crew came to be aboard.

• Use 1.5B Tritanium to restore power to the Borg Sphere’s base systems.
• Defend the Borg Sphere, in Rylan (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Defeat the scavenger’s vessel, in Rylan (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Use 30,000 5★ Ore to repair the Borg Sphere’s warp drive.

The game lists warp 1 to complete this part, though its two fights take place in Rylan, where Part 3 ends.

Fallback Part 5

Help Data’s crew and restore the Sphere to its operational state. Four crew members survived in cryostasis, and you prepare them to be severed from the Collective while gathering parts for the Sphere, including optical chip readers from a Klingon contact.

• Transport the cryocapsules to the Station.
• Use 200M Dilithium to prepare Data’s crew for the severance from the Collective.
• Mine 2,000 5★ Gas to recover the Sphere’s auxiliary systems.
• Trade with Klingonen for optical chip readers, in Balduk.
• Intercept a Romulan scout ship with Klingon prisoners, in Tiwoqua (enemy strength ~28,524,865).

Warp to complete: 61.

Rewards: 4,243,334,000 Tritanium, 210 5★ Common Battleship Parts, 500 Klingon Recruit Token.

Fallback Part 6

Withstand a new Borg attack. Data’s crew (Riker, Troi, Worf and Zefram Cochrane) have their individuality back, just in time for a much larger rift that lets a whole Borg fleet through near a colony.

Fallback Part 7

Stall the Borg invasion for as long as possible. Seven more rifts are forming, the nearest in Alma, and once you have patched up your allies you have to choose between covering Captain Iko and closing the rift.

• Assist in closing the other rift, in Alma.
• Defeat 12 hostiles of level 55 or higher.
• Transport 1.5B Tritanium to patch up your allies.
• Choice: should we close the rift or help our allies?

Defend Captain Iko

• Cover the Independent Captain, in Alma (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Attack the Borg-Würfel, in Alma (enemy strength ~28,969,758).

Rewards: 6,396,667,000 Tritanium, 210 5★ Common Survey Parts, 115,000 Officer XP.

Close the rift

• Use 250M Dilithium to destabilize the Borg rift.
• Attack the Borg Cube, in Alma (enemy strength ~32,812,002).

Rewards: 6,396,667,000 Tritanium, 210 5★ Common Survey Parts, 115,000 Officer XP.

Both paths pay the same. Warp to complete: 320.

Fallback Part 8

Stop the Borg invasion. The Sphere has an interdimensional drive, and with allied fleets holding the line in M2-Parcer you supercharge it to deal with the rift.

• Rendezvous with the Borg Sphere, in M2-Parcer.
• Stop the Borg forces from approaching the Sphere, in M2-Parcer (enemy strength ~29,678,595).
• Defeat 5 hostiles of level 55 or higher.
• Supercharge the Sphere’s drive with 300M Dilithium.
• Inspect the rift closer, in M2-Parcer.
• Rückkehr zur Station.

The chain ends with only a faint signal from the Sphere and its crew, a thread the Contact Restored chain picks up. Warp to complete: 320.

Rewards: 708,000,000 Dilithium, 2 Relocation Token, 1 Zefram Cochrane shard.

Tips for completing Fallback

The fights are all light for level 55. Every named enemy is listed at between about 28.5 million and 32.8 million strength, and the strongest is the Borg Cube on the Close the rift path in Part 7.

The resource bill is the real planning job. Across the chain you pay 250M Dilithium in Part 2, 1.5B Tritanium and 30,000 5★ Ore in Part 4, 200M Dilithium and 2,000 mined 5★ Gas in Part 5, 200M Dilithium in Part 6, 1.5B Tritanium in Part 7 (plus 250M Dilithium if you close the rift) and 300M Dilithium in Part 8. Have a survey ship ready for the Gas.

The Part 7 choice does not change the rewards. Defending Captain Iko costs nothing extra; closing the rift costs 250M Dilithium and faces a slightly stronger Cube, so Iko is the cheaper path.

Are the Fallback rewards worth it?

Yes. The chain pays about 37.8 billion Parsteel, 13.4 billion Tritanium and 1.66 billion Dilithium, plus 5★ raw Ressourcen, 5★ ship parts, 115,000 Officer XP, two Relocation Tokens and shards for FCM Data and Zefram Cochrane.
