The Back of One’s Mind is a late-game Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you track down the remaining miners. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 110 to complete. You find the survivors in Romashki, defeat one miner at Kronos and the miner boss back in Romashki, then return to Kronos. The reward is 600 4★ Common Battleship Parts, 390 4★ Common Refined Gas, 600 Klingon Credits and 374,000 Klingon Points, with a loss of 526,592 Romulanisch Points.

The Back of One’s Mind objectives

There are four objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:

  • Find the surviving miners. Location: Romashki.
  • Defeat the miner. Location: Kronos. Enemy strength is about 1,075,836.
  • Defeat the miner boss. Location: Romashki. Enemy strength is about 4,301,671.
  • Return to Kronos. Location: Kronos.

The mission bounces between the two systems: Romashki to find the miners, Kronos for the first fight, Romashki again for the boss and Kronos to finish. There is no hostile count.

Wo und welcher Warp

You can accept the mission at warp 1, but it needs warp 110 to finish. Romashki and Kronos are the only systems, each visited twice.

The game lists a recommended level of 1. The miner boss at about 4.3 million strength and the warp 110 range are the real requirements.

The Back of One’s Mind rewards

4★ Common Battleship Parts 600
4★ Common Refined Gas 390
Klingon Credits 600

The negative Romulan Points figure is a loss on completion. Finishing the mission unlocks Der Ruhm von Kahless.

The Back of One’s Mind and the missions around it

Mission Warp zum Abschließen Fights Rewards besides faction changes
Eine Fool's Errand 120 Starfleet Guard in Holles (about 912,580) or Romulan Guard in Talvath (about 2,726,322), depending on your choice 800 4★ Common Refined Gas or 800 4★ Common Refined Erze
Der Hintergedanke 110 The miner (about 1,075,836) and the miner boss (about 4,301,671) 600 4★ Common Battleship Parts, 390 4★ Common Refined Gas
Der Ruhm von Kahless 120 25 hostiles of level 45 or higher, IRW Gratia (about 2,726,322), IRW Magnifica (about 4,301,671) 2,300 Latinum, 600 Ultra Recruit Tokens

A Fool’s Errand pays 311,000 Klingon Points and takes 427,936 Romulan Points. The Back of One’s Mind and Glory of Kahless each pay 374,000 and take 526,592. The miner boss here matches the IRW Magnifica in the next mission at about 4.3 million strength, so it is a good test before Glory of Kahless.

Tips

Repair before the miner boss. The first miner at Kronos is about a quarter of the boss’s strength, and the boss fight comes straight after.

Plan for four legs of travel inside the warp 110 range, since you go back and forth between Romashki and Kronos.

If you are building Romulan standing, the 526,592 point loss is large. Other missions are on the Missionsleitfaden.
