A Fool’s Errand is an early Klingon story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. You meet the High Council to deliver your testimony, then choose which rival power to move against. The mission begins at Dohrmas and can send you out to warp 120. Both routes pay Klingonisch Credits and Klingon Points and unlock the next part of the story, and each one costs you Romulan reputation along the way. The two paths differ mainly in how tough the fight is and which refined resource you collect, so the call comes down to your ship’s strength and what you need.
A Fool’s Errand objectives
The mission runs in a fixed order until it reaches a choice, then it branches into two routes that send you to different space for different fights.
- Meet with Klingon leadership at Dohrmas to deliver your testimony.
- Decide what to do. This is the branch point, and your pick sets the rest of the objectives and the resource you walk away with.
From the branch, you follow one of the two paths below to the end.
Federation path
- Pfadfinder Föderation space at Holles.
- Defeat the Starfleet Guard at Holles, a target of roughly 912,580 power.
- Return to your station to close out the mission.
Romulan path
- Pfadfinder Romulanisch space at Talvath.
- Defeat the Romulan Guard at Talvath, a much heavier target of roughly 2,726,322 power.
- Return to your station to close out the mission.

A Fool’s Errand picks up at Dohrmas, a single warp jump from the Klingon home region, so getting started is cheap. The branch is what stretches your fuel. The Federation route runs through Holles and the Romulan route through Talvath, and finishing the mission reaches out to warp 120. Check your range and fuel before you take the final objective so you are not left stranded partway through.
A Fool’s Errand rewards
Both branches hand out the same credits, Klingon Points, and reputation change. The only reward that shifts with your choice is the refined resource.

The Romulan Points figure is negative on both paths, so finishing A Fool’s Errand lowers your Romulan reputation no matter which route you take. Completing the mission also unlocks the next part of the chain.
Tips
- Both routes cut your Romulan reputation by 427,936 points. If you are building Romulan faction standing, hold off on this mission until you can afford the drop.
- The Romulan path fight is about three times heavier than the Federation one, roughly 2.7 million power against roughly 912,000. If your combat ship is still weak, take the Federation route through Holles.
- Choose the branch by the resource you need. The Federation path awards 800 4★ Gemeinsame Refined Gas; the Romulan path awards 800 4★ Common Refined Ore.
- Finishing the mission reaches warp 120, so top off fuel and confirm your warp range covers the last leg before you commit.
