Combat Training 59: Veteran

Combat Training 59: Veteran is the last and hardest step of the level 59 Combat Training set in Star Trek Fleet Command. Its one objective is to defeat a hostile captain of about 41.7 million strength. The mission runs at warp 1 from start to finish and the game lists a recommended level of 59. The reward is 4,500,000,000 Dilithium and 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens, the biggest Dilithium payout of the level 59 set, and finishing it opens the level 60 Combat Training missions.

Combat Training 59: Veteran objectives

The story line is shared by every Combat Training mission: test your skills in battle against hostile enemies of rising difficulty. There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Defeat the hostile captain. Enemy strength is roughly 41,714,474.

No system is named for the captain. Unlike the Rookie and Soldier steps, where any hostiles at the right level count, the Veteran step is a single scripted fight.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. Travel is not what makes this mission hard; the captain’s strength is.

The recommended level is 59, and for once the listed level matches the content. A 41.7 million strength captain is an endgame fight.

Combat Training 59: Veteran rewards

Reward Amount
Dilithium 4,500,000,000
Ultra Recruit Token 2,400

Completing it unlocks the next step in the series, Combat Training 60: Rookie.

The level 59 Combat Training set

Each Combat Training level has three steps. Current game data for level 59:

Step Recommended level Objective Rewards
Rookie 59 Defeat 3 level 59 hostiles 1,500,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens
Soldier 59 Defeat 5 level 59 hostiles 3,000,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens
Veteran 59 Defeat the hostile captain (about 41,714,474) 4,500,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens

The Ultra Recruit Tokens stay at 2,400 across all three steps, while the Dilithium rises in even 1.5 billion steps. The Veteran step alone pays as much Dilithium as the Rookie and Soldier steps combined.

What comes next

The mission leads to the level 60 set. Current game data for the first two level 60 steps:

Mission Recommended level Objective Rewards
Combat Training 60: Rookie 60 Defeat 3 level 60 hostiles 1,800,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens
Combat Training 60: Soldier 60 Defeat 5 level 60 hostiles 3,600,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens

The level 60 Rookie step pays more than the level 59 Rookie step, but the jump from Veteran to the next Rookie is a big drop in Dilithium, from 4.5 billion to 1.8 billion. The Veteran fight is the payday of the series at this level.

Tips

Bring your strongest combat ship with a full hull and your best crew. At about 41.7 million strength, this captain is far beyond the targets in the Rookie and Soldier steps, which only ask for regular level 59 hostiles.

The Rookie and Soldier steps come first and are plain hostile grinds, so they fit into normal hunting sessions. Save the Veteran fight for a moment when your main ship is fully repaired.

Plan the Dilithium. Four and a half billion Dilithium is a large chunk of the late-game research and building costs that ask for it, so line up the upgrade you want to spend it on. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
