Chaos and Consequence

Chaos and Consequence is a Romulan-aligned story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with a short story line: take Novix down. After meeting an information dealer in Willenia, you choose between confronting the Proconsul in Vendus A or hacking the Romulan database on Biruin. It can be accepted at warp 1 and needs warp 22 to complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. Both paths pay Romulan Credits and Romulan Points; one adds Romulan Recruit Tokens, the other refined ore.

Chaos and Consequence objectives

Everyone starts with the same two steps:

  • Meet the Information Dealer in Willenia. Location: Willenia.
  • Confront the Proconsul or erase your information from the Romulan database?

If you confront the Proconsul

  • Go to Vendus A to confront the Proconsul. Location: Vendus A.
  • Destroy 17 hostiles of Level 27 or higher.
  • Kill the Proconsul. Location: Vendus A. Enemy strength is roughly 104,274.
  • Escape back to your Station.

If you hack into the Romulan database

  • Go to the Data Center on Biruin. Location: Biruin.
  • Destroy 17 hostiles of Level 27 or higher.
  • Go to Vilevau to hack the Data Center. Location: Biruin.
  • Destroy 17 hostiles of Level 28 or higher.
  • Return to Vilevau to finish hacking the Data Center. Location: Biruin.
  • Escape back to your Station.

The Proconsul path asks for 17 kills and one named fight. The database path has no named enemy but doubles the grind to 34 kills, the second batch at level 28 or higher.

Where and what warp

The mission can be accepted at warp 1, but Willenia, Vendus A and Biruin need warp 22 to complete it. The recommended level is listed as 1. The level 27 and 28 kill requirements and the Proconsul’s 104,274 strength are the real bar.

Chaos and Consequence rewards

Reward Confront the Proconsul Hack the database
3★ Common Refined Gas 6 6
Romulan Recruit Token 500 none
3★ Uncommon Refined Ore none 24
Romulan Credits 150 150
Romulan Points 3,100 3,100
Federation Points −1,934 −1,934

The faction rewards match on both paths. The difference is 500 Romulan Recruit Tokens for the Proconsul path against 24 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore for the database path.

Where to find the hostiles

Each path’s kills can be made in its own system. Current hostile data lists these level 27 or higher hostiles:

System Hostiles at level 27 and up
Vendus A Romulan Patrol and Romulan Trader (27–30), Romulan Trained Fighter (27–29), Romulan Watchpost (27)
Biruin Romulan Patrol (27–30), Romulan Trained Fighter (27–29), Romulan Citadel and Romulan Watchpost (27), Gorn Marauder (30)
Willenia Kriosian Rebel (27–31), Dessneran Bandit (29–31), Gorn Marauder (30–31)

For the database path, the second batch needs level 28 or higher, so skip the level 27 targets once you reach that step.

Where it sits in the story

Chaos and Consequence follows Cutting Ties, where you deal with the data forger in Sufiday. Earlier in the same storyline, Repeat Business has you bring that data forger to Novix.

Tips

Pick your path by what you want to fight. The Proconsul path is shorter but ends in a named battle; the database path avoids it at the cost of 17 extra kills.

Repair before the Proconsul. The fight comes straight after 17 kills, so your ship may already be damaged.

Other missions are listed by level on the mission guide.
