Caveat Emptor is a Star Trek Fleet Command mission where you stop the Orion Syndicate from selling a Borg drone to an unwitting buyer. The Syndicate agrees to hand it over for 500,000 Dilithium and one job: assassinate Vanosh in Xerxes, at roughly 347,055 strength. It needs warp 23 to finish and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 3,377,000 Parsteel, 497,000 Tritanium and 18 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore.
Caveat Emptor objectives
There are six objectives and no choice split:
- Retrieve the Borg drone from the Orion Syndicate. Location: Orion.
- Pay 500,000 Dilithium to the Orion Syndicate.
- Find the Orion Syndicate’s intended target in Xerxes. Location: Xerxes.
- Assassinate Vanosh. Location: Xerxes. Enemy strength is roughly 347,055.
- Return to the Orion Syndicate to collect the Borg Drone. Location: Orion.
- Return to your Station.
You start in Orion, where the Orion Syndicate holds the drone. They want payment and a favour. After the 500,000 Dilithium, you fly to Xerxes, find their target and take out Vanosh. Then you return to Orion to collect the drone and head home.
Where and what warp
There is no pickup system, and the mission becomes available at warp 1. Completing it needs warp 23. Orion is visited twice, and Xerxes is where the one fight happens.
The recommended level shows as 1. The real requirements are warp 23 range, 500,000 Dilithium and a ship that can beat a target of about 347,055 strength.

Tips
Have the 500,000 Dilithium ready before you reach Orion. The payment is the second step, and the trip to Xerxes only opens after it.
Bring a combat ship. Vanosh at about 347,055 strength is the only fight, and a survey hull will not win it. Everything after the assassination is travel, so you can fly back to Orion on a damaged hull if you need to.
Weigh the Dilithium against the Parsteel. You spend half a million Dilithium and get almost 3.4 million Parsteel plus Tritanium and ore back, which is a good trade for most players at warp 23.
